Throughout my life, I have been immersed in Florida’s diverse cultural environment. In Jacksonville and other surrounding cities like Orlando and Miami, I have appreciated all the influences from the Hispanic, Asian, European, and African cultures around me. I even have the privilege of living with such diversity even in my own household through my Puerto Rican and African American heritage. Further, my exposure to multicultural communities extends to my high school, which is composed of students with various backgrounds. Every school year, there is a showcase called “Multi” that represents dances from cultures all over the world.
