While I stood in line at the State Fair, I engaged in conversation with my friends. Then a suspicious man behind me groped the contents of my drawstring bag. Instead of ignoring the man, or moving away from him, my initial disgusted reaction resulted in an impetuous confrontation.
In the subsequent instant, I whirled around in bewilderment to face him. With a defensive tone and direct eye-contact, I interrogated, “What do you think you’re doing?” In dismay, the man mumbled an outlandish excuse and avoided my gaze. Then he gestured to his ‘wife’ and argued, “My wife and I were just curious about what was in your bag, you don’t need to make a scene.” I gawked at the man’s audacity to dismiss his creepiness which further intensified my anger.
