Assessing the SAT Test The main test I recall taking is the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), no known as just the SAT, the test that a majority of high school students take in order to gain entrance into college. In fact, 1.7 million students took the SAT in 2015 with 41.9% meeting the college and career readiness benchmark (College Board, 2015). I remember the anxiety of underperforming and not getting into the school of my choice, the dreadful feeling that my future hung by one number. Worse, I had my first attack of multiples sclerosis two weeks before and was going through multiple diagnostic procedures and doctors’ appointment so my mind was not exactly on studying. Ultimately, I did not do my best but still gained entrance into college

I would also make modifications, if necessary, for students who might have disabilities or language barriers. Similarly, I would offer assistance with career or technical education advice as outlined in the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 2006 which offers federal funding and stresses accountability for career and technical training programs (Drummund, Sheperis, and Jones, 2015). For those students who plan on attending college I would advise incoming high school students to choose wisely when planning their high school classes, that while they might have gained enough credits to graduate that students should look into more challenging AP courses so that colleges view them as driven to succeed. I would also encourage them to think outside of the box, I would stress academics but also activities that allow the college to see the whole person. MIT has actually begun to allow students to submit videos of experiments or projects they have created to aid in the admissions process. Students in Singapore are required to complete a group project that grades their ability to work as a team, apply what they have learned, and communicate effectively (Gray, 2015). It is apparent that colleges are looking more at the individual and want well-rounded students, not just students that test well. Therefore, students should plan their high school path with challenging classes and engaging extracurricular
