Stephen Walker Instructor Wachal English 102 College Composition II 1\24\17 Passing English Composition 2 After passing English composition 101 mini students feel as though they have an easy road ahead of them, however the road has gotten much more difficult because now the course it’s a second year college level course, meaning there are improvements to be made, bad habits to get rid of and find a way to become an effective writer. To start off I’ll say what I want and expect from this course to make me a better writer, I expect this because this is a longer length of English than I’m used to. For instance, when I took my English 030 the class was only 8 weeks long statistically speaking the longer you train at a high intensity the better you are. …show more content…
For instance, I will discontinue using contractions in my sentences, so instead of saying it's I will write out it is, also replacing don’t with do not. Also, something that will improve my essay's quality is making them more concise and to the point.one instance is omitting the phrases there is and there are. Avoid words that weaken academic writing. For example, basic phrases such as really, very, a lot, and so. Creating ways to improve isn’t enough to make a dramatic change one must look at the problems or habits that hinder progress, for me, this includes procrastination and being disorganized. Procrastination is as a bad of a habit likened to an addiction because of it starts casually then you find yourself doing it all the time until it becomes impossible to break. Some ways tackle this is to tackle my triggers that lead to procrastination such as fear of failing a project or perfectionism. For instance, in the past, assignments that were worth a lot of points I tended to put off until the last moment because I felt it would never be good enough. As far being disorganized it effect my work by doing things out of order and later producing sloppy
