I play football, and soccer which tend to take up a lot of my free time. This time would be instead used for homework, but that is where time management is very useful. I can also avoid these obstacles by not procrastinating, which proves to be the demise of many high school students. I am also apart of many different clubs such as Leo Club, National Honors Society, and GoGreen club. These clubs tend to have activities outside of school, but they are very manageable.
I feel I will be fairly successful in this course for different reasons. My past English classes have been at the honors level, and I feel they have prepared me for AP. I also scored above average on the reading and writing comprehension sections on the ACT standardized tests. Also, I have always been better at English compared to other subjects, and I have enjoyed those classes much more. I also feel I will be successful based on the previous students who have taken the course. Many students in the past have scored 4s on the exam, and I hope I can do the same after this

The only thing holding me back is myself at this point in my educational career. I would tell you I know exactly how to change this course to improve it, but I really do not. The course is just as it says what it is, that being a college English class. That name implies that there is a heavy course load, a lot of study time and essay preparing, and a lot of other real-world skills. I think this course is what it needs to be, and that there should be nothing changed about it because that would take away from what it truly is.…

The Grades Challenge Freshman year was a difficult year for my grades. I was failing a few classes and it seemed like the harder I focused on the percentage, the farther I got away from it. I talked to my teachers about how I could try to get my grades up and was simply told “you won’t get a better grade.” I was stuck with what I had is what I was told, and they ended up being right about that year. I was worried that maybe something was wrong; maybe I wasn’t as smart as I used to be.…

To me, writing is just ok, nothing special. It definitely isn’t something I get excited about. My first formal writing class was in 6th grade, where we followed The Institute for Excellence in Writing’s curriculum. My fellow classmates and I mainly wrote short, 1-3 paragraph reports on various historical topics. I did well in these classes, I just never really enjoyed the process of writing.…

When I began studying at the University of Montevallo, I had a background of high school creative writing and English classes, and one summer of a college English class. To be honest, I was terrified of jumping into my fall English 102 class. I felt I was unprepared for a serious college level composition class, and that I would have a strenuous time adjusting to a four-year university. However, as I walk away from my English 102 class I carry the understanding of writing a college level essay, undertaking research and completing a research and argument paper properly, and knowledge to prepare me for my other classes and profession.…

Taking this class has helped me understand the strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills, and it has given me the opportunity to strengthen the areas in which I was weak. When I was young I was never the best at reading even though my parents owned many books and magazines that they read on a daily basis. My mother enjoyed reading her gossip magazines that she would receive in the mail once a month and my father had a whole bookshelf full of history books. My parents would always encourage me to read the books I would check out at the school library to improve my reading and writing but that advice usually went in through one ear and out the other. The only books I would really attempt to read had to be humorous or horrifying, my favorites were the Goosebumps collection. I loved reading these books alone in my room where I couldn’t be sidetracked by all the commotion that went on in my house.…
