Essay On Barbados Vacation

For our vacation, Jalyssa Rivera and I chose to go to Barbados, an eastern Caribbean island, known for its beautiful beaches and warm climate. With the cold temperatures we’ve been experiencing here in Wisconsin the past couple of months, we thought that a place like Barbados would be nice for a change. We’ve planned our vacation to be 8 days and 7 nights long, from Friday, March 30th, 2018 to April 6th, 2018, during which we plan to take a break from the cold Wisconsin weather and instead fly to Barbados and enjoy what the island has to offer. We’ve also managed to stay within the $6,000 budget. The total cost of our trip will be $4,034, which includes $1,211 for our hotel; $1,420 for our flight; $115 for a shuttle to take us to and from the airport/hotel; $700 for food; $860 for activities; and $328 for a rental car. Spending the remaining $1,966 will be optional for us, in case we want to buy extra things like souvenirs to bring back …show more content…
In this case, we opted for the latter. We ended up finding hotel and flight deals for a total of $2,746, which saved us $1,885.39. Even though the opportunity cost of finding the cheaper deals was having to dig a bit more, put more time into finding more economic options, and having to get a smaller hotel room with a single bed, it was very much worth it in the end. This was an economically smart decision because we ended up getting a much cheaper deal, even though we gave up certain things the other package offered and had to dig a bit more, which ultimately left us with more money to spend on other things that mattered more, like leisure

Even though English settlers traveled across the Atlantic to the Chesapeake Bay area, the West Indies, and the area that became New England all around the same time, they formed very different kinds of society. This makes it obvious that the determining factor in the way colonial societies grow is dependent on more than just the lifestyle its settlers had in their homeland. In addition to the reasons for settlement in each area, one might also explore the obstacle settlers faced in colonization, and the practices that took root as they lived in these areas. One of the most influential factors in how a colonial society grew is the reasons for which the colony is founded. For the colonies in the Chesapeake Bay and the West Indies, profit was the major reason for their founding.…

Founded on December 5, 1492 by Christopher Columbus, the island of Hispaniola was originally inhabited by the Taíno Arawak people. Ayiti, which means “mountainous land,” is a name used by its early inhabitants; the Taino-Arawak people, who also called it Bohio, which denotes “rich villages,” and Quisqueya, which signifies “high land.” The said Taínos were South American Arawaks, with Taíno meaning “the good” or “noble” in their language. Many of the Taíno-Arawak people are extinct but, there are a few survivors that are mixed with African slaves and European conquerors. Columbus on the other hand had to leave 39 of his men being that they settled in La Navidad; because he left his men, enslavement became such an issue since the treatment of…

Haiti and the Dominican Republic Haiti and the Dominican Republic: two isolated countries divided by a border on one small island. The border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic breeds hatred, discrimination and racism stemming from a long, blood-filled history. Geographically close to one another, the countries remain psychologically separate, distinguished by an intangible boundary edified by the Dominican dictator Trujillo. Trujillo’s proclamations of antihaitismo and Dominican nationalism have lead to the current state of Haitian deportation and anti-Haitian sentiments.…
