Countless of times, I find myself wishing I was born earlier. Maybe it is because I have an old soul. Therefore, the past has a special allure to me, and I often turn to it to escape from our grim, day to day reality. Even though I’m well aware of all the benefits of living in the present day, I still can’t help myself feeling nostalgic when visiting old castles, attending medieval fairs or even reading books about Ancient Rome, lost civilizations or myths and mythology. Something comes alive for me that is impossible to experience in the present day.
High school is without a doubt a very stressful and difficult period in a child’s life. It helps shape young minds and changes people forever. The environment, the teachers and classmates – they all play their own part in our rise towards adulthood. For a very long time I was ashamed of sharing the fact that I had to take a year off and completely concentrate on myself, my health and my way of living. Only I know how heartbreaking everything was at that time seeing as the fiery arguments between my parents almost tore our family apart. In spite of this unfortunate turn of events, I discovered just how strong and ambitious I am, how gracefully I can handle stressful situations and at the same time I gained a good amount …show more content…
In my case, History and Art are the two subjects I have an affinity for. I was discouraged by a handful of people when I shared my interest in becoming a historian. They claimed I shouldn’t waste my time in a meaningless field. But I don’t see it that way. I want to study history because I am in love with humanity. History is a long, unforgettable adventure which reveals both the very worst and the very best of human
