Reflective Essay About The Gospel

Growing up, I was enveloped with a family that believed in God and went to church regularly, and heard about God, Jesus, and other Christian things day-in and day-out. So, when I was four, I decided to put my faith in Jesus as my Savior, but I didn’t fully grasp all that it meant for me. From that day, I went on and did what I like to call the “church thing”, attending Bible study clubs, church on Sunday and, when I was older, youth group, but never actually taking to heart what Jesus meant to me.
When I was 15, the truth of who Jesus is and what He’s done for me finally began to impact my life. Gathered around the warm campfire, my youth group listened to my pastor as he gave a message to us about spending time with God in prayer and reading His Word. I could feel the conviction rising in me over how little time I actually spent trying to understand God. As my youth pastor wrapped up His message, he passed around a piece of paper to all of us and had us write down any and all of the bad things that we could think of and then had us throw the paper into the fire. Writing down all of my wrong-doings, it caused me to realize the insurmountable amount of times I mess up daily.

The Bible says, “...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Imagine you and I walked out and tried to throw a rock from here to the North Pole. I might throw it farther than you, you might throw it farther than me, but we both would still come up short. Neither of us would reach our target no matter how skilled of a throw or excellent aim we have. In fact, no one would. That is what sin is, missing the mark. No matter how decorous we try to be, we fail to reach the standard set for us, which is Christ in all of His

Introduction/ History Remembering one’s history is important in creating a productive and successful future. The Met does just that. During the early 1900s, the founding fathers of the Met experienced financial difficulties. These struggles helped orchestrate a new vision and inspired them to create an innovative PATH (prayer, attendance, tithes and offerings, and hospitable invitation), which continues today with nearly 1,100 members.…

My story begins when I was only six years old. That was the year that I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and He became a part of my life. At the time I did not know exactly what it meant to be a Christian, but I did everything a Christian would do since I thankfully grew up in a Christian home. It was not until I was a teenager until I fully understood what being a Christian meant. Experiences such as missions trips, retreats, and summer camps are what have shaped my relationship with Jesus.…

Just like Mormonism can be entirely too focused on good works, we too as Christians can be too focused on good works. God loves when we obey Him, but it cannot be just to appear outwardly “good.” In fact, our human efforts at morality are still never enough to earn salvation. That is why James 2:10 says, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” We cannot live a perfect life, but how sweet the offer Jesus gives us instead.…

In this essay, I will be talking about what I believe to be true from what Jesus tells us in the Bible, about being the Son of God and how He was here to die on the cross for our sins, showing everyone who He was and who ever believe in Him is save, or healed if they were sick. In this paper, I will be talking about the trustworthiness and historicity of the Gospels. The historical reliability of the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ miracles, and did Jesus claim to be God. Did his disciples believe he was God? The accuracy of the resurrection accounts in the Gospels, that is, did Jesus rise bodily from the dead?…

The quiet hum of the gospel music lulled me as I rode to church in the backseat of my mother's van, just like every other Wednesday night. The soft chords of the hymn blended with the sound of the van so well that it seemed manufactured with the motor itself and as we neared the church I had no idea that this would be no ordinary night. It was a night that would change my perspective completely and little did I know that after tonight, even dull ordinary moments like these would, in my eyes, be extraordinary. The church is like a second home to me.…
