The first thing that we experienced that was really eye opening for me was when we visited the girl’s orphanage. Seeing their living conditions and how they lacked so much yet were so grateful for what they did have, and how happy they were the whole time, this really made me think of all I take for granted. Going into this I didn’t think it would be so important to the kids but when I was washing off their feet, and then put the shoes on for them almost every one of them looked at me with disbelief, as if they didn’t believe they were really theirs. The truth is these shoes were probably only twenty dollars and if any of us on the team received these shoes we would never wear them, but these kids didn’t care what color or what kind they got, they were just happy they were going to have some new shoes that didn’t have a hole in them. I think the kids receiving the shoes also gave them some hope and joy from us doing this for them, because it made them feel like people are still out there that are trying to better their lives and make it easier on them. What I took from this is just doing something small that doesn’t seem like a big deal to you might actually make a huge difference in a person’s life that is less
