A half decade in the Marine Corps does certainly does a number on one’s faculties. Admittedly I was never much of an academic before, but by God the years of instant obedience to orders and a ‘keep it simple, stupid!’ mindset was not the miracle cure for my scholastic woes. With that being said, coming into English 105 I didn’t know if I’d excel or make a damn fool of myself, seeing the amount of cobwebs that had sprung up between my ears.
