One area that I believe I was successful in was in regards to competency 3.3, 3.8 and 3.12. While caring for a client who had been experiencing chest pain prior to me coming on shift, I ensured that I spoke with my nurse about the changes to expect and how to respond if the changes should arise during my care. I also made sure to take frequent vital signs and use subjective questioning to determine any changes in the status of my client. This allowed me to skillfully implement appropriate nursing care and prepare myself for a situation that could potentially change rather quickly.

One area that I have been working on and would like to improve upon is developing mini DM assignments with each client that I take into my care. These focus on

I do not take pleasure in writing negative evaluations but I cannot say that my experience with Dr. Arieahn Matamonasa-Bennett was positive in the least. I have enjoyed and learned very much from taking many professors at Fielding, and that’s why I feel that it is necessary to point out the professors who do not hold themselves to the same standards of excellence. I will try to articulate my experience in Dr. Arieahn Matamonasa-Bennett’s multicultural (712) course as briefly as possible. Also, if any verification of my accounts of what transpired is needed, I would be happy to provide the email correspondences or any additional information upon request. (1) To start, Dr. Matamonasa-Bennett’s syllabus for the 712 course was dated for the previous semester.…

Competency 2 also states that social workers should present themselves as learners. I presented myself as the facilitator for the day, students called me teacher and I told them I was not a teacher or expert in citizenship classes but still they called me teacher. Another point Competency 2 refers to is self-regulation to manage the influence of personal biases and values when working. To be honest I don't think someone could master this point who could put aside their own values? I think in one way or the other you will always say and suggest something base on your own beliefs or values.…

One of the main aspects of this is being aware and working within the limits of competence (NMC 2015). Paganini and Yoshikawa Egry (2011) described competence as using the knowledge and experience gained from training and effectively putting it into practice appropriately and responsibly. By being aware of your limits it prevents nurses completing duties that they have not been fully trained in. This prevents care being detrimental and focuses on providing person centred care. McCormack and McCance (2010) Framework supports that being professionally competent is an important prerequisite of person centred…

Two competencies I feel I have excelled are competency one to demonstrate ethical and professional behavior and competency two to engage diversity and difference in practice. In competency one I feel I was able to complete these competencies so well by using my experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant working in a nursing home, a hospice agency and a hospital. The past eleven years I have spent in the medical profession has taught me some core values in acting professionally and ethically. I have realized the importance of treating each individual with professionalism. I have realized that at times you are coming into your clients lives at some their worst moments in life and you need to be the professional to be able to analyze and deal with the situations properly and professionally.…
