Reflected Appraisals is that little voice that we all hear in our head telling us correctly or incorrectly of how other people view us or think of us. Reflected Appraisals can be very powerful tool that can guide one’s life and make someone do things for better or worse. Those little voice we all hear in our heads telling us what someone thinks about us helps define our own self-concept which influences many of our life decisions. Introduction Definitions of intelligence vary among scholars, theorists, and laypersons, due to its multidimensionality. However, intelligence typically involves an individual’s ability to learn from experience and adapt to the environment in which they live. I believe that the construct of intelligence should encompass an individual’s ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form, to think logically, and to express creativity. Two intelligence tests in which I recently had the opportunity to take and score included the Shipley Institute of Living Scale-2 and the Wonderlic Personnel Test.…

My perceptions of my family are that they are mainly very giving, and we are supportive of each other. My perceptions of my family individually is that my mom is giving, selfless, caring, and sensitive. I think that my mom is giving, and caring, because she cares about many people, who sometimes she doesn’t even know too well, and she will try to help them with things that they are going through, and she wants to help people through their health, or if they are in abusive relationships, or just by helping me with things, such as my homework. She is also selfless, because she will put people before herself, and even if they have hurt her so many times, she will still forgive them and do things for them even when they don’t deserve it. Because she is so caring, she is also sensitive, because she lets what people tell her affect her life, and sometimes something someone says can ruin her day.…

My family has always encouraged me to be the best student and individual possible, as well as supporting me in every decision that I've made. My mom especially has always been there for me and makes sure I always have everything finished. Being a single parent, she has many more responsibilities than most parents, but she has always gone above and beyond and been the best mother I could ask for. My twin brother has also always been by my side, challenging me (and competing against me) to be the top student in our class. Without him, I probably wouldn't have pushed myself as hard…

Critical Appraisal of a Research Article This essay contains my critical appraisal of a quantitative research paper by Kennedy, Curtis and Waters, (2014). I will critique the research paper using an appraisal guide adapted from Ingham-Broomfield (2008) and Solutions for Public Health (2010). I will work through the article in a systematic way, beginning with the title and going right through to the conclusion. Critiquing an article in this way helps enable one to weigh up the strengths and weaknesses of the research and make balanced judgments about the quality and usefulness of it (Moule & Hek, 2011).…
