Before now, this assignment was a highly anticipated one. When I read the syllabus and read what the two projects were, I thought to myself, “well Julienne, these would be a breeze.” I got excited and started looking around for some agencies near me that met the required guidelines given in the project. I came a few ones that were very interesting and contacted for acquaintance. As expected, a few didn’t have a social worker on ground, and a few others did. One in particular in my area piqued my interest, and I contacted them because of the various services they offered that were so close to home to social work services. I was so sure that this agency would definitely have a social worker on ground and they did. I had to look around for a while but I ended …show more content…
I would feel really comfortable and satisfied each time because of how dedicated and committed the social workers are to their clients. If I was the social worker at this agency, I do believe I would do exactly as the current one is now and many more as well. I would be very dedicated and committed to my clients as well, and make sure they are in a good place in their life before anything. One thing I learned, which is closer to my career goals is the always to work with a passion because that’s what keeps you going. Always show love to the audience you serving because everybody deserve it. This agency is similar to what I intend to do and I took a lot from that. My field is counseling as well, and I do see that being provided there as well. Although it is more for adoption, I would focus more in marriage and family. I would be providing services for families that are going through problems as well as couples. This agency influenced me in a way where they enlightened me in the different services they provided, where I saw some similar services that can be provided in the field I’m interested as

As a social worker, I will encounter many unique backgrounds and circumstances that I may not have any clue what it is like to be in their shoes. Nonetheless, this workshop taught me how to still go about these relationships without feeling that I have nothing to offer. I would have to see that despite my differences with a client, I have to respect them and their culture. That means letting them know that I accept them where they are at and that I would like to learn more about where they are coming from, including their background.…

When I started working as a CAN, as well as volunteering in the health care field, I understood that the work involved included helping residents in activities of daily living. What I found out after I started working was how much of an impact the job makes on people. When I was volunteering to help a woman go grocery shopping I did not think much of it. However, when I came into her home and started putting her groceries away she started tearing up. I found out that she and her husband used to always go grocery shopping together and would later play a game that involved putting the groceries away.…

This class has been a great experience for me and the most important thing that I learned in class came from the young adulthood, middle adulthood, and late adulthood interviews. Linking the interviews with the person I interviewed with the theories related to that age had help me become aware of how I will use these theories in practicing social work in all areas. Now that I am aware of the theories I seek out the person I am working with the past history of their life from childhood to now. Each human experience is different and important to know when working with an individual. For example, in the middle adulthood interview, Shawn had a good relationship with his children that were very important to him.…

During my time there, I was a front desk assistant and could view and direct individuals to all the services the organization had to offer. CHS provides services such as residential group care, child welfare case management, emergency shelter, foster home management, adoption, and other vital programs to the surrounding Big Bend community (CHS, 2018). It was interesting to observe which individuals used which services and the impact said services had on their well-being. At one point, I discussed the various services and solutions provided with Kevin Winship, LMHC, the Director of Program Operations at CHS. His insight was vital in my acknowledgement of effective administration as necessary to effective social work.…

If service users, carers and social workers work alongside each other instead of against each other they can both give feedback back and forth and work in partnership to form better outcomes for others in similar situations. This will help build up relationships and helps the understanding of both parties. This situation was an impacting one to reflect on as the Congress day was set up to help widen our knowledge and I found it highly beneficial from this specific workshop that 'service users and carers are so diverse and not two are alike.' (Congress day, 2017) This means that a social worker needs to have the skill of adapting to suit the service user and carers needs they are working with.…
