Reflective Account Of Presentation

Reflective account of presentation I have chosen "Is protectionism desirable?" as my topic of presentation as I learnt Economics in the high school and I am very familiar with this topic. In my presentation, I talked about the pros and cons of protectionism and tried to convince the audience that protectionism can be desirable in the short term but harmful in the long term. As for preparation, I had referred to related topics in my previous Economics text book to make sure I do not make any content errors. In addition, I read online sources such as BBC News to find examples which support my arguments in the presentation. The main difficulty I faced is the selection of topic. As there is no restriction imposed, I was left with a great number of potential topics. I was indecisive and took a quite long time before the final topic was confirmed. I think I can select my topic with a more systematic approach. For example, instead of considering specific topics immediately, I can list out some possible areas such as History, Economics first and then select one of them for my presentation. In addition, I had been engaging with the audience though eye contact and gestures during my presentation. However, peers and tutor also advised that an overview can be added at the start of the presentation to give the audience a general idea of what the presentation will be. Moreover, they also suggested that some parts of the presentation is too complicates to understand. I agree with the feedback and for next presentation, I will ask some friends to check my power points first. In addition, I will avoid using too much standard text-book explanation which is complex and dry when illustrating a particular theory. For instance, I should use some real-world examples to explain some benefits and harms of protectionism instead of a tariff
