“Society is a republic. When an individual tries to lift themselves above others, they are dragged down by the masses, either by ridicule or slander. This quote was written by Victor Hugo. He trying to say that When someone thinks they are better than others. Other people will try to be them down. I was reading a book in english called The Crucible by Arthur Miller that relates to this quote. I notice when i would score higher on a test than someone they wouldn’t really give me a high five. They would probably stick their tongue at me. In the Crucible there's a character that is exactly the same way.

I often notice, that real life situations relate to the stories in books we read now. For example,I had this best friend who had a boyfriend and a friend name Milk. One day Milk told my best friend that,“I find your boyfriend cute, you should let me borrow him.” My best friend was shocked. Milk said it was a joke. My best friend found it a little suspicious. Then the next day her boyfriend told my best friend that Milk said. “I want you, leave your girlfriend”. Milk was jealous of my best friend because she had something that she wanted. That’s how it is in The crucible. In The Crucible Abigail was a jealous person. She would also would lie and manipulate people. She was jealous of Elizabeth

relate to personal experiences that are in stories. Here's an example, I think Arthur miller can relate to Abigail’s personal experience of jealousy. There has probably been a moment in life when Miller wanted something that someone else had. That’s why Abigail stole Elizabeth husband because of jealousy. When Victor Hugo said, people try to bring you down when you succeed. Hugo has also probably experience that with friends or family who was against his dream of becoming a poet. Not because they don’t like his dream but maybe because they knew he could accomplish his dream and that made them

This quote implies that humans have become tolerant to accepting evil as something that is socially unacceptable. It also suggests that human beings not only have no control over the actions that they do, but also they do not want to accept responsibilities for their actions. Instead, they use excuses to curtail their actions. Lastly, this quote also indicates that humans are blind to what is happening around them via evil. By reducing the offense of evil, it suggests that not only do human prefer not to accept reality, rather human beings decide what is reality from their own…

The Crucible in an allegory that ultimately addresses human behaviour. Death is a common denominator when societies are left to their own demise, as seen with the useless killings of the “witches” of Salem, Massachusetts to include our protagonist, John Proctor. Through the hysterics of the Salem villagers we see people struck with the fear of being accused of witchcraft; despite witchcraft being somewhat of a grey phenomenon, it was solidly used to indict and kill villagers to the benefit of others. When you look at two specific characters within the Crucible i.e. John Proctor and Reverend Hale you notice opposite reactions in response to their respective regret thus analyzing their actions, you notice threads of human action that continues…

The definition of crucible is a ceramic or metal container in which metals or other substances may be melted or subjected to very high temperatures. This definition can relate to the play The Crucible, by Arthur Miller because the court can be thought of as the heat in which is melting the metal, but for the play it means that the court is causing tension in the town of Salem. Like the change of the metal, going from solid to liquid, many people either go through changes or try to make others change in the play; some of the most remembered for the changes are John Proctor, Elizabeth Proctor, and Abigail Williams. John and Elizabeth both change themselves through the play, but Williams tries to change those around her.…

People do not tend to stand up for others or for themselves, because they think people will judge them. Letting the world know who you are is all that matters, be proud of yourself and have goodness in your heart. This reminds me of the time I stood up to and for my dad who I love, but likes to blame things on me because he has a drinking problem. He did not like the way I raised myself nor was he proud of the person I am. This is kind of like Elizabeth Proctor who stood up for someone she loved, but also for herself.…

She clearly has a feeling of disgust toward Elizabeth, and mentions multiple times throughout the story her hatred for Elizabeth. For example, Abigail states “It's a bitter woman, a lying, cold, sniveling woman, and I will not work for such a woman!” (11). Not only does Abigail assert her feelings toward Elizabeth, but she calls Elizabeth “it”, a quite disrespectful way to address a woman.…
