Does Society Function Without Respect?

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Every human being, of whatever origin, deserves respect. We must each respect others even as we respect ourselves.” This makes people wonder, could society function without respect? We all respect different people for different reasons. Maybe you respect your parents for how hard they work, or you might respect a friend for their accomplishments. Sometimes you could show somebody respect by just shaking their hand, or doing something as simple as saying thank you. But, what if nobody did these things?
So you may be wondering what optimism is. Optimism is the trait of being positive no matter what is going on. It is a very good trait to have. Optimistic people are always willing to give you a compliment

Society couldn’t function without respect because nobody would do anything. When your boss asked you to finish something you could just not do it. You would have no respect for your boss and what he has to say. If a parent told their kid to do the dishes you probably wouldn’t move. You have no reason to do it because you have no respect for their parents. These are all little things in our everyday life, but without respect they wouldn’t get done. When you listen to your teacher, parent, or boss you’re respecting them. If you didn’t show them respect you wouldn’t do what they ask.
Somedays you just need a compliment to get you through the day. Imagine if you were to never get a compliment again. In a society without respect that is how it would be. People would be way more depressed. There are some people in this world that are genuinely nice. Without respect you will not be able to find those people anymore.
To conclude my speech I just want to say this. Everyone could be more optimistic. You’re going to make mistakes, but you need to stay positive. There is no reason to be hard on yourself over a mistake. Also, try to always be respectful. Sometimes it is hard to respect somebody after somethings they’ve done, but you need to keep a positive outlook on
