Reflection: Tquisha And Communication

Decent Essays
Tquisha, can you believe it? We have almost completed our third college class, yet it seems like only yesterday since we had orientation in Nashville, TN. As you stated in this week’s discussion post the connection between using proper grammar in our speech, and writing is a close one (T. Waller, personal communication, January 3, 2017). Furthermore, throughout this class, I have worked hard to speak grammatically correct, and I have noticed a small improvement that correlates to my writing.

I believe that it is fair to say that our grasp of grammar has increased exponentially throughout this course, and I am excited to see our growth. However, as you mentioned this is not only based on the course curriculum, but also on the excellent resources that have been shared with us one (T. Waller, personal communication, January 3, 2017). I see that you have mentioned Grammarly, which is helpful, and Easybib as sources that you have used. Both of these resources are accommodating, but neither is my favorite. I find that Paper Rater is my favorite due to the detailed information it returns as it allows me to better modify my essays.

I have seen so much growth from you Tquisha, not only as a writer but your grasp of grammatical mechanics appears to have deepened as well. I look forward to watching you grow further as we continue our journey. Until next time, be well my

(In both cases above, you added an “s” to furniture even though the word furniture is an uncountable noun.)…

In writing classes the most common first day question is whether or not spelling and grammar will count. Most commonly students focus more on how they are writing and if it is grammatically correct or not rather than writing their inner thoughts. Jack Connor in his essay, “Will Spelling Count?”, argues that writing requires meticulous efforts through his use of cause and effect, comparison and contrast, and division and classification. Connor displays cause and effect throughout his essay to show how different ways of teaching affect students performance and effort level. English 121 was a difficult class and even more so when your grammar isn’t all too great, though I was lucky enough to have been scheduled with this class also since it had helped me very much and even improved my writing. When I first began in this class, I felt that my writing was obviously lacking and because I wasn’t that good with grammar it made it worse. From the start, I had trouble on how to make my writing better, but eventually I began to take notice small grammar mistakes which were easily fixable. But I still have a bit of trouble with mixing up my subordinates and conjunctions, I’m sure though with…

Throughout this semester of English 101, writing has become more of a skill than a struggle. Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. This course made me very doubtful on whether I could be capable of even writing a paper that would provide me with a decent grade, but at the same time made me push myself in my writing technique. In the end, I can reflect that I learned from my mistakes and wrote papers that took time and dedication to accomplish. I learned from this class to be confident in my writing and make all the mistakes to receive the grade I want in the end.…
