Identification There are many similarities and differences between the two articles just by appearance alone. Just reading the title one can conclude which discourse community each article belongs to. The “Reflection Revisited: The Class Collage” article is from an English/teaching discourse while the “Advertising to Children and Teens: Current Practices” article is from a marketing/business discourse.

The English discourse uses a lot of block quotes taken form various papers to show evidence from an eyewitness point of view, while the business discourse uses facts and statistical data to support their claim. With these different forms of citations one can tell what the goals are for each community are. For example using just data mixed with a handful of numbers from multiple sources suggests that the goals of the advertisement community is to sell to the consumer with the use of reliable data. Using the perception from his student’s further supports the English professor discoveries when he assigned the reflections assignment.
