Personal Narrative-Time College Student

Time management has never been a skill that I have been particularly successful with, not when I was a high school student and even now as a full-time college student. During high school, I was constantly completing important projects or assignments at the last possible moment and working on things without planning out the time it would take. But now, as a college student, it has been stressed to me how important time and energy management skills are if I want to work more efficiently. While working on time management action plans, I found that scheduling out important activities and assignments seemed to be the most helpful for me. The first action plan that I decided to work on was developing a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule of all of my personal and academic activities. For my academic schedule, I first added all of the classes I am taking this semester to my Google Calendar with their specific course titles, times, locations, and professors. Then, I color-coded my courses for this semester in lavender and set them to reset weekly until the last day of classes so that they could be more manageable and easier to keep track of. But due to my unfortunate tendency to work on assignments when I feel like it instead of planning them out, I think that using this method of time management will be more beneficial for me in the long run. Another detail that I noticed was that adding all of my assignments to a calendar and looking at them from a weekly and monthly perspective illustrated to me that I am not using my time wisely, planning effectively, and doing as much work as I should be so that I do not struggle unnecessarily. Ultimately, this action plan was helpful in highlighting that it is possible to complete the assignments given to me without excessive levels of stress if I follow my new

Each day, I created an anchor chart and called on students to think of words with the current sound of the word family (at, am, an, ap). After we gathered 6-10 words on our anchor chart, I asked them to sit at their desks and I passed out a workshop for them to complete that corresponded with the current word family that we were working on. I would give them about 15 minutes or so to work on this solo, then I drew sticks to pair each student with a partner so that they could…

I did not do this, I had done all of this online without ever meeting with someone who would advise me on how to the process works. I completed the summer session earning straight A’s, although I wondered if the instructor had even bothered to read my work. However, this did give me the needed confidence to continue, but I soon realized that every instructor would be far more realistic when grading my…

This chapter taught me that I need to review my college catalog because they change it periodically every year and that you are expected to follow it. That most degree or certificate programs need a certain amount of credit hours to get a major. This called your degree requirements. I also learned that you have to take core classes like English, math, and health classes. I also learned that I need to look at my schedule and know when I have important…

All I usually changed were the structural errors instead of the grammar errors. In taking this class thus far I have learned that this type of editing will not have me pass at my preferred grade. The evidence of this lies in all both the narrative and observational essay. From “Jeez Grandma!” to “This is Gaming?” my editing in my correctness criterion had improved but only by a small margin. Evidently showing me from the start that I needed to improve and that I can’t be sloppy with my work, or that’ll cost me severely by the end of the semester.…

I did succeed in making my grades but by the last months of the semester I realize that the stress that came with procrastination wasn’t worth in ad I started working on time management. In high school the words time management are repeated but never really explains. I grew up hating the simple idea of time management, but I have since learned that is means balance. It is easy to think of staying in and doing nothing but studies, but true time management is the balancing the responsibilities you must complete and the things you want to do. This realization has taught me that I can have a “fun” college experience without forgetting the reason I am at a university.…

Because “diversifying our collections and programs requires intentionality” (Hands, 2015, p. 20), a plan of action as outlined in the Strategic Diversity Plan will be modified for everyday classroom use using collaboration among teachers, staff, students, and administration. I also collected observation data on a chart each time students wrote and coded the data twice this month. Students helped collect word count data on their first writing in February. Student’s individual word count amounts were recorded and the class’s mean score word count was reflected. I completed a rubric on each student’s last entry in his or her home journal in February. The data was recorded in the form of a mean score for the whole class for each section of the rubric and individual student scores were recorded for each…
