Personal Narrative: My First Experience At The Melia Caribe Tropical Resort

Good Essays
As I looked out at the gorgeous light blue Caribbean Sea I saw a large white boat in the distance with a rope connected to a parachute sailing over it with multiple people in the boat. My family and I were standing on the pure white Dominican Republic sand waiting for our turn to take the dinghy out and meet the parasail boat for our first experience parasailing ever. The sky was as clear and blue as could be, with absolutely no clouds and the sun beaming on each and every one of the vacationers on the beach. The beach and pool area at the Melia Caribe Tropical Resort was extremely dense with people vacationing from all over the world. My parents and I were actually talking about how diverse the population was with people from Spain, France, …show more content…
My parents and I hopped in the boat as the captain instructed us to do, and we sat tight next to each other as there were approximately 12 other parasailers on the boat with us. When we arrived to the parasail boat there were many other vacationers onboard that had just finished their ride and were now waiting to get back to shore. We exchanged positions one at a time as it was unstable with the water as a hindrance to controlled movement. Once we all got onto the parasail boat and the others onto the dinghy, we drove away and onto the beginning of our experience we …show more content…
It was completely breath taking. We saw all of the other resorts down the beach as far as our eyes could see. The beach was so dense with people and the clear blue sky matching with the clear blue ocean was exhilarating. The sand was perfectly white and all of the palm trees in the distance provided a perfect layout of vegetation. After the driver gave us a few minutes to view the island in a circle he took us for a run down the beach. He started by pulling back the throttle and we started descending almost immediately. Then at the very last second he throttled the engine up and cranked that powerhouse. We fell for a couple more seconds and as soon as our feet touched the water, we starting ascending again. He timed it perfectly. Next he started driving side to side to make us sway in the air. We enjoyed the ride to the fullest extent possible and after about five more minutes of taking in all of it we started to make our final descent. We discussed how great the ride was on our way back down and when we landed on the parasailing platform we all looked at each other and smiled as we knew we just had one of the best experiences of our lives. I don’t think very many people can say that they have parasailed over the Caribbean Sea and the coast of the Dominican Republic, and I knew I was very lucky to say that I have done

After a while one of the boat guys started pulling these huge fishing rods out and setting them up. We were switching off so one person would get a catch and then they would switch with someone else. It was really fun and I caught a barracuda that was half the size of me! Then we headed back super-fast because we spent an hour longer out there than we should have. We were almost late and had to get on the boat and go to the other side of the cruise ship.…

It was almost as if I were looking in a mirror. The next thing I noticed were the endless green mountains that were overlapping each other across the whole island of St.Thomas. As we made the journey to our first destination, Turtle Cove, the three crew members, Sara, Buck, and Captain Megan made our time on the Dancing Dolphin extremely enjoyable. They offered us refreshments, snacks to eat, and we even did some dancing on the boat. Soon, when we rode the waves closer and closer to Turtle Cove, they handed out our life jackets, flippers, snorkel, and goggles.…

Later, that day I went parasailing with some friends I had met leaving the restaurant the night before. We flew from the top of the board walk to ten miles along the beach. The breeze felt so good. I wanted to go again except the lines were so long, we decided to go to the next activity which was the banana boat ride. Our driver, Julio, took us to the middle of the ocean, the view just phenomenal.…

When we finally paddled a quarter of a mile on our surfboard we hit the breakers. I had a near-drowning experience with those breakers and it was quite frightening. To begin the telling of my surf trip, I must start with our long car ride. So, we rented a car from our hotel and started driving to our surf destination about three hours from our hotel. The trip was spectacular, we got to see the beautiful scenery of the Hawaiian coastlines with their clear, blue waters and picture-perfect waves.…

I could feel some type of tickling of nerves all over my body; it was awesome to ride a water motorcycle. After a couple days, for our last day of vacations in Puerto Vallarta, we went on a cruise to a small island. The boat that took us there was immensely big. I thought that getting inside that boat could take my life away I didn’t even know if it was safe or not. But the boat had all types of things from a pool to a restaurant, Internet, and video games, which made me forget about the perils of a boat ride.…

We rented a boat and someone to drive it even though we really wanted to self drive it. Then we set sail and all of the kids were on the front of the motor boat feeling the air slice through our bodies. After 20 minutes of sailing we stopped in front of a huge rock that was sliced in half. We stopped where all the motor boats were, put the snorkel gear on, jumped into the water, and started snorkeling in the beautiful sea with all the weird and amazing fish. We saw a school of fish and we even saw a narrow fish, as narrow as a stick.…
