“Get some sleep. Think about what your opponent will do. Be responsible. You are playing for your partner not just yourself. Eat a good breakfast and be ready to play.” These are the final words from my tennis coach before the biggest tennis matches of my life… and they went through one ear and out the other of most of the team. Last year my partner and I made it to state in Boise, and we made it to the second day of the tournament after winning our first two matches, which were very long and difficult. We pulled through with two wins, though. We felt like we were on top of the world. Our teammates, who were also our potential opponents later on in the tournament, also won their first two. The team’s moral was sky high so we went to the …show more content…
So we go to a third set to see who wins. My partner and I were playing our hearts out. We were both dripping with sweat from head to toe, and I had gone through three Gatorade bottles. We lose the first game then win the second. We won the third, fourth, and fifth. Only two games left and we are in the championship against our own teammates! However, that is when I hit a wall. From then on out I could not do anything. Balls that I could usually get to, I came up short. My hard serves that I am known for started to slow down, making an easy return. We did not win another game and lost the …show more content…
I scouted out our competition while they were playing, and I felt very confident. I get some lunch, and I am ready to go. I was not feeling tired at all! We play another three set match out in the heat with the sun blaring on us, but we pull off a win. We were in the consolation championship which guarantees us with a medal! We played the town favorite, Bishop Kelly. They just got done with a long match just like us and one of the players had heat stroke so the match was delayed. I went to check in with how he was feeling and he was as white as a ghost. He told me, “Man, I feel awful, but I will still play even though we will probably lose.” The match starts and it is as hot as an oven outside so we were all worried about getting heat stroke. We won the first set with ease. The second set we lose in a tiebreaker. “It all comes down to this. All of our hard work and dedication has lead up to this moment,” my partner tells me. I was very tired. I start making dumb mental mistakes, and I was very slow on my feet. We lost the match, but we still placed fourth which was awesome! I felt bad for my partner, however; because it was her last match, and we lost. We were both happy for a successful year, and we knew we would continue to be close friends as life went on after

I took him down first but it wasn’t easy. Toward the end of the match I took him down again and the final score was 4-0. Unfortunately I was the only one on my dual team who had won. My thought on the club was that we were going to do really well with all the talent and ability on the team. Time went by and I slowly felt as if my vision for the flub was just wasting away, people didn 't know each other so we had bad chemistry throughout the team, people would get into arguments, and our coaches were not performing as well as promised. Half way through the season my high expectations went out the window and I think everyone else’s did too. My teammates and I sort of gave up, with a whole half season, and a few tournaments and showcases left we just kind of gave up. Our attitude led to us hitting a losing streak, until we played Cleveland Football Club, the 3rd highest ranked team in the mid-west region, we ended up losing to the team by one in a 2-3 game.…

LCA was a school that only consisted of foreign exchange students. There was not a single American on their team. We had already beaten them this season five to one but this time we were playing on their field. Their field was a very small one and myself and many of my other teammates could've kicked a ball three-quarters of the way down it. This did not benefit our playing style, we were a team that was at the top of our class in passing and spacing.…

That year we had strong teams in all categories, but everyone was betting on the pre juvenile boys’ team. Our trainer said he believed in the capacity of all our teams, but everyone knew he was expecting for the pre juvenile boys to win the tournament. The first day our school went to one of the greatest ignauration I had ever witness,…
