On December 16th, 2016, St. Paul Middle and High school students participated to the St. Paul Music Concert, and we played instruments and sang several songs in St. Paul Gym. It was from 1 O’clock to 3 O’clock, and not only the secondary students, but also their parents enjoyed St. Paul Music Concert, and the parents saw how music skills of their sons and daughters had been improved. Goals of this Music Concert were to enjoy last day before a Christmas holiday and to show parents what their sons and daughters had learned in their music classes. Every Middle and High school students who learned music played and sang songs with their teams. Teams were divided by the students’ music class period and their grades. I was in 8th grade choir team, and my team sang 2 songs respectively and 1 song with high school choir team. Those were Winter Wonderland, Twelve Days of Christmas, and Jingle Bells. I played bass part in my choir team. It was a great …show more content…
We did well on tempo, tone, harmony, and performance. As I watched video of our performance, out tempo was consistent throughout the song. I think this is because there was a good conductor who kept music in right tempo. Also, I think we were not nervous since it was the third performance of 8th grade choir team. In addition, Jingle Bells’ tones are exciting, interesting, and bright which create happy Christmas mood. When we sang Jingle Bells, we created these appropriate tones, and creating proper tones made audiences to be more excited and interested in our performance. Also, when I watched our performance, I could listen all four parts of choir. Since the balance of all parts was perfect, it sounded as we were very professional, comfortable, and stable. Moreover, most of us didn’t do distractive action, and this helped audiences to concentrate on the music deeply. Much as we did well, we made some mistakes while singing Jingle

Jazz History Concert Report II For my final concert writing critique, I decided to attend the live Ball State Student Jazz Combos on Tuesday, November 8; this event took place in Choral Hall inside of the university’s Music Instruction Building. The wooden hall was smaller than I thought it would have been, but it gave the concert setting a more intimate feel. There were three groups presenting that day, each under a different director. Because each group did not have a specific name, I had to label them based on the order in which they performed.…

On Friday, July 10th, the local instrumental jazz group Yuma Jazz Company played at Lutes Casino for a couple of hours. The instrumentation was fairly standard for a jazz group, with trumpet, saxophone, guitar, double bass, and drums (I believe those were electric). The guitar and bass, along with the drums, served as a sort of basso continuo, generally backing the horns, but occasionally taking up the melody for themselves, resulting in a texture that was thinly polyphonic. Also noticeable was the “fabulous light up tip jar,” a colorful accompaniment to their music. The concert ran from 7 to 9 PM, so I went in not only with the intention of listening to the group but also with a good meal in mind.…

I attended the American Landscapes performed by Oklahoma State University Symphony Orchestra and Dr. Thomas Dickey conducted the orchestra. The concert was held at the Serentean Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. At the concert, I was an amateur, listener to this type of music. I had never witnessed a live performance of this musical style before. I would consider myself to be a passive listener.…

Overall I expected it to be a great performance, and it is safe to say my expectations were met. There was a lot of kids, and babies in attendance which I didn’t expect at all. The performance put on by the Orchestra was great. When the director of the orchestra entered the stage everyone in the audience gave him an applause as he starts to greet the audience, and talk about the performance. The projector behind the performers had videos, and drawings displayed that was turned into amination, and it brought the drawings to life while making the story more entertaining.…

If I have not challenged myself to practice and to confront challenges, I could not have become the principal player in our school’s jazz band and wind ensemble. After several breakthroughs, I decided to share my inspirations to the younger generation. This year, I am one of the coordinators of the Molding Musicians program supported by the Cypress Boys and Girls Club, teaching the fifth and sixth graders how to play an instrument. I appreciate the fact that my achievements did not come from an easy work, but rather a persistent standing against…

I choose to free write a concert to follow the life of Mariam. Mariam would be best represented by a piano keyboard, since among the piano instruments the keyboard is a misfit and a lower class instrument compared to the piano and organ. A piano is a grand instrument used in concerts and the upper class, events such as weddings, performances and churches. The organ is the backbone of a church used in holy ceremonies and only churches can afford and maintain such an extravagant piano. Even the higher quality midi or digital computer music pianos are tuning out obsolete keyboard.…

At 7:30 in the evening on Tuesday, October 4th, the Northern Michigan University music department’s Jazz band held a concert at Reynolds Recital Hall on campus. The music was surprisingly quite varied compared to what I had expected and the musicians were clearly talented. The entire performance was very impressive and it was neat to see fellow students performing and displaying such skill. Ultimately, I was glad to have attended the concert, despite the fact that I don’t particularly enjoy jazz music.…

On the evening of February 21, 2018, I attended a Jamey Aebersold live jazz concert featuring Howard Levy and Chris Siebol at the music building at UIC. Since, I had never been to a jazz concert prior to this one, I did not know what to expect, but since it was my first time, I was excited. In my opinion, the evening’s program was nicely presented. The musicians started by introducing themselves, Howard Levy, an American multi-instrumentalist who switched off with playing the harmonica and the piano and Chris Siebold who played the guitar and sang for a few songs. Due to that fact that they played all the songs together the texture of their songs were polyphonic.…

That is unfortunate because choir has always been one of my favorite experiences and I would love to have the opportunity to teach it one day. On Saturday mornings, I assist Julia Church Hoffman with the logistics of the Music Prep School and I get to see the administrative and behind the scenes tasks that it takes to run a school. During audition season (whether that's All-State or scholarship auditions) I'm often among the volunteers who help escort students to their audition…

Besides mumbling “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” once with a class of forty students in elementary school, I had no singing experience. The ladies’ ensemble consisted of four students; Teddi (soprano), Ricole (soprano), Iole (soprano), and I (bass). I enjoyed being the foundation of all the music that we rehearsed and performed together. However, I dreamed of singing a solo by myself, and the state singing competition at Emery High School gave that opportunity. Confidence never deemed to be my strong suite in life, however, achieving a “superior” rank for my solo Danny Boy helped life my spirits.…

Moreover, since it was a solo performance, there was no communication among performers. Even though I could not see the performer because he was hide behind the organ, I could feel that I was putting a lot of energy in this piece to make it dramtic. Todays society is surrounded by music in many different facets. The exposure comes from the growth and dependence on technology, which allows the movement of noise to any location. People take music with them in the car, to the gym, over the speaker systems of most public venues, and even in the shower. This knowledge and understanding of music is a skill that needs to be enriched in the children of today. Music opens doors and opportunities for students that don’t want to be apart of the football team or didn’t make the cheer squad.…
