Improved Essays
This class has taught me many things but the most important part of it was taking this Smarter Measure assignment the results brought so many things to life and I realized what I needed to fix in my learning side of things and where I can be better at. And I feel like I scored pretty fair on the life factors I felt like I did pretty good but there were some bad thing in there that I still really need to work on to better myself not only as a learner but just as a person as well. There is a quote from the book on page 312 "A reinforcement is a form of learning is a consequence that increases the probability that a behavior will occur." This was a very big quote that I took out of the whole semester only because I completely agree with it and honestly I feel like the scores on the smarter Measure would have been so much better had I had a reward or something waiting for me at the end. Things are very powerful to people now a days we can’t …show more content…
One last quote from the text that really help me see the difference in learning was on page 177, it states, "The ability to think critically and to make effective life decisions is shaped by many factors, including our stage of cognitive development, the possession of good analytical communication, and research skills and such characteristics as open-mindedness, flexibility, and creativity." This one was a little long but it made a great point of view on critical thinking and how best to use it I know I struggle when I am doing any school work and it’s something that I really need to start working on but this was all about decisions and how they are shaped by critical thinking. And that really stuck out to me because not only does your mind control your decisions but also your behavior this was my favorite leaning theory because it has the ability to control almost anything it

Instead of tearing myself down, I am trying to use that poor grade as motivation to “fuel the fire” and to attempt to do better next time. Ken Bain’s second learning profile goes hand-in-hand with the growth mindset. This type of learner gets good grades, but is also a deep learner who strives to grow personally and professionally. My ultimate academic goal is to become completely like this learning profile. I often still find myself being a strategic learner at times.…

It was a reoccurring theme that actually helped to make me think about all the problems and the issues that affects the lack of graduates now. Students sometimes do not understand that they hold their own future in their hands so they should be responsible for it. Liberal education gives students more options and freedom to make better choices to make it easier for students futures. The teachers are more influential and effective with their teaching when they are allowed to do what they believe is best for their students. Once you can learn and understand the problem you can help to fix it and I understand why Mrs. Basiletti decided to teach this way.…

I believe this will be one of the most difficult tasks to conduct while teaching, but also one of the most rewarding. Depending on the grade level, the type of instruction that I choose to teach would have to be effective, and also useful in the long run for the students. It is one thing to relay information that is expected to be taught, but it is something else to find meaning in what I would be teaching, and make it worth learning for the students. Of the readings, discussions, and videos that we have participated in during class, I found that a quote given by Sir Ken Robinson in his “The Art of Teaching” being the most influential. Early on in the short clip, Robinson made the comment saying that “the way to get people to learn, is by connecting it to the learners interest, to what motivates them, what energies them, what excites them, what engages their imagination.” This quote truly represents why people strive to learn more in life, and how to teachers should spark the interest of the learners.…

Lesson Plan Self-reflection and Evaluation A self-evaluation is a powerful tool that always helped me to strive to become a better teacher. Reflecting on and evaluating my teaching after a lesson was done, gave me insights that saved me lots of trouble and time throughout my teaching career. Even a few brief evaluative notes on a lesson plan helped me immensely the next time I had to teach that lesson. In the rush of teaching, and due to time constraints, I was sometimes tempted to skip self-evaluation. There were always plenty of other pressing things that needed to be done.…
