My practicum at AGF Access Group Inc. has being a rewarding one that has provided me with some experience that I need to start my professional career in the field of health and safety. In the field of health and safety, one needs to be open to changes especially if you have to accomplish your goal of zero injuries. During my practicum at AGF Access Group Inc, I have been able to learned my personal and professional truths upon which my career will be based. By learning my professional and personal truth, this has enabled me to continue to improve on the areas in which I’m weak as I proceed in my health and Safety career.

Active listening simply means giving full attention to what the worker is saying and understanding the points he or she is trying to pass and asking questions. This helps you understand some of the safety concerns being brought up and how as a Safety Specialist one can help to put preventive measures in place. Also, in order to be a successful health and safety specialist, one has to be a good speaker in order to convey information effectively without which the information get …show more content…
It's important to let employers and employees know that they are each responsible for safety (internal responsible system). Providing a platform for employees to ask questions without any fear of retribution will help increase safety culture in the workplace. By asking questions and coming up with suggestions will help build a safe environment where business can flourish. As a health and safety advisor it is good to be able to work with corporate management. In order to get new safety initiatives implemented, you will have to be able to get full management support without which it becomes difficult to implement projects. Also, if corporate management want to push a new safety initiative it's important the health and safety advisor let them know how it is going to work
