I know what I am like already even if there are some parts I want to change about myself. I feel like a lot of people don’t like to accept the fact that they can’t be perfect and that kind of annoys me sometimes when I try to explain to them that they can’t be great at everything. In our class we took a bunch of surveys about our traits, learning style, and which side of our brain we use the most and in my opinion they describe me pretty accurately. Whenever we have a locker cleanout I don’t have to clean because I always make sure my locker is organized otherwise it will annoy me. Even when desks or anything else are uneven I it irritates me until it is. I remember in third grade we took a test to see how much of a perfectionist you are and I got a score that went over the rankings which meant that I was such a perfectionist, it was unhealthy. Also, usually I act like a goofball but when I’m actually serious I am logical. I love learning about the world and it’s countries, especially the cultures of the countries. I guess that’s one of the reasons I like Social Studies but sometimes it’s annoying listening to the teacher say wrong things about the countries or pronounce names wrong. Maybe that’s another way how I’m a perfectionist because I get frustrated when super easy names are pronounced wrong. I remember my grade school teacher scolding me for being very perfectionist when I was a tyke. It was music class and I was grouped with a boy who clearly doesn’t have the “voice”. So before we could even have our first group, I already exclaimed that we won’t succeed because of this boy. I told my group members that he should just stick to the props and leave the singing to us.…

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to free themselves from the way they are perceived; they must create a new identity for themselves apart from how they are perceived by their peers. They must explain why they need to overcome these false perceptions in order to live their lives as they see fit. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people deserve to be free from judgement. We are often forced to live the way others perceive us.…

“Oh, I’m have to keep my room organized. I am so OCD.” Commonalities such as this one are frequently misused by many people - most of whom are people who do not even have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder or simply have not been educated about what the disorder actually is. OCD is oftentimes seen as simply a facet of every person’s personality that makes him or her desire to keep things clean or organized a certain way. Although a symptom of some people’s OCD can be related to organization, their compulsions tend to be more complex, long-lasting, and detrimental; sometimes including compulsions that can last upwards of an hour (Fennell 1).…

My thinking as a perfectionist will result in being afraid to make any mistakes and would be conscious if anyone finds out about my mistake and that they would lose trust in me or might consider me as deceiving. This is very true of me and this is more problematic in my work place where it is difficult for me to say “no” for additional work or helping some out on the project and doing his work. This causes me to put long hours at work which in turn limits my time that I can spend with kids. Likewise, the same happens in the personal settings wherein I always says yes for any request from friends for help and that in turn might clash with work that I have to finish at home. D2A. I am a perfectionist. Ever since I was young, my parents have always pressured me to achieve the very best in life. My parents got divorced before I was born and they always told me that I could be anything I wanted as long as it was a better life than the one they had growing up. This has caused my childhood to be plagued with a desire to succeed in everything I do. I get irritated by the idea that I have achieved anything less than a B as a grade or the fact that I am even five minutes late to anything.…

My perfectionism increased when I entered high school and I began to battle with it in this semester. Because I wasn’t the top honor student that I perceived to be, I started to become angry and disappointed in myself. Consequently, my first semester consisted of scrambling and trying to figure out how to adapt to a new difficult chapter in my life. In contrast, a positive influence that has occurred is the confirmation of the career that I want to pursue for the rest of my life. This confirmation became evident when I started field experience and started bonding with the Orangeburg Wilkinson High School…
