Sadly, I do not see the obesity rate decreasing anytime soon. I think in order for the obesity rate to start to decline, major corporations would need to take out the surplus of sugar and fat added to many of the manufactured products we consume everyday. It is ridiculous to think we consume approximately 160 million tons of sugar as of 2010. Corporations know products high in fat and sugar sell at a faster rate in comparison to healthier options, and changing such practices would mean less money in their pockets. Corporations care more about making money than the health problems caused by the products they sell. It actually disgusting to think corporations are not only willing to put consumers’ health at risk but also falsely lead consumer to believe their products are healthy when it is in fact loaded with sugar. Many companies will label their products with “100% fruit juice” or 100% real products used, but when you look at the ingredients used, different form of sugar and sweeteners have been added. Consumers, including myself, tend to look at the cover and immediately believe companies are selling what they state they are selling. It is sometimes easier to just trust what companies say instead of doing some research on those ingredient and finding out what is actually in the products we consume. When I first began my weight loss journey, I would always drink Ocean Spray Cranberry juice, which claimed to be 100% Cranberry juice because I thought it was healthy. One day, my mom told me drinking such juices is bad for weigh loss because they are actually not real juice. I looked at her as though she was crazy because they label clearly stated 100% juice. It was not until I looked at the nutrition facts on the back and realized that there was added sugar and other preservatives in it. It is fraudulent for companies to advertise their product as something its not. If a company is going
