Growing up, I have taken part in dance, swim team, softball, volleyball, basketball, and golf. I began taking dance lessons when I was four years old and continued for eight years. Because of dance, I gained many friends and learned to be comfortable in front of people. Although I dreaded swim team practices and I distinctly remember stopping during the middle of the race to yell for my dad to save me because I thought I was drowning, taking part in this sport taught me to persevere and display grit during difficult tasks and situations. Team sports such as softball, volleyball, and basketball encouraged me to work with others to reach a common goal, and this is extremely helpful for my future and in everyday life. Golf, the sport I enjoy most, has been paramount in molding me into the person I am. Through golf, I have had the opportunity to have many amazing experiences. I have met many amazing people, formed some of my strongest friendships, and visited several incredible places. From spending my childhood at Parkston Country Club, the local nine hole golf course, to playing in major tournaments on world-renowned courses, I would have a very different life if I had never been introduced to this

People know her as the “golf champion.” Nick Carraway, the main character of the book, describes the way being with Jordan made him feel, “At first I was flattered to go places with her, because she was a golf champion and everyone knew her name” (Fitzgerald 57). This quote shows that golf has made Jordan well known by many people. Jordan was viewed as a successful woman in the book because of what golf has done for her, and the women she had become because she played golf.…

It was something I became unusually infatuated with, I yearned to be around dance as often as possible because I just could not get enough of it. Even as an adolescent, I would beg my parents to take me to class beforehand so I was the first one there, then later I would ask them to linger around with the purpose of being able to glimpse into the “big girls’” practices. No matter where I was, who I was with, or what we were doing all I could contemplate or converse about was…
