One 's thing for sure is that I enjoyed English 102 way more than English 101. I had a terrible experience in English 101 and am still mad about the experience to this day. However, I greatly enjoyed my experience in my English 102 class. I loved almost every aspect of my English 102 class, including my teacher, classmates, and even work that was required. Through English 102, I have learned a lot about writing and can say without a doubt that it has made me into a better writer for many reasons. By taking English 102, it has helped me realize my personal strengths in writing. I feel that I am very good at getting the format correctly for each paper. I understand what is expected format wise and usually tell my peers in peer review how they …show more content…
I feel that I did a good job in developing and supporting complex ideas and arguments, but a terrible job of telling the counter arguments. In almost all of my papers I wanted to the last minute to mention the rebuttals to my suggested ideas. This made my papers evidence weak, causing my paper to lose credibility. I wish I was better at introducing and countering my opposing viewpoints for each paper. Another thing I need to improve on is my peer review and editing skills. I could 've helped a lot of people 's scores if I was better are finding mistakes. Although I hate editing and revising, I need a lot more practice with it. Althought I felt that I did a good job supporting complex ideas, I know I could 've added more support to make my paper even stronger. I also should 've abused my resources better than I did. There are so many things that could 've helped my papers out but choose to ignore them such as using the writing center, talking to my instructor, or even connecting with classmates. It is without a doubt my writing could use areas of improvement. In conclusion, my experience in English 102 was way better than English 101. I learned a great many things about myself and my writing. I know that I am not the best writer, but I am also not the worst. Without more practice and more time I can grow into a strong writer. Writing is a very powerful tool if used correctly. I hope to grow into a person who can write their way out of an argument rather than a person who can fight their way out of an argument because everyone knows the pen is mightier than the

In high school I would have considered myself to be a decent writer, not the best or not the worst. I would never impress anyone with my writing skills but I could still come across as educated on my topic.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

English composition was never my strong nor favorite because of my knowledge of the grammar and organization in my writing. Taking English 101 is a jump start for me, because last year of high school my teacher focused primarily on English literature. The course has introduced me to rhetorical analysis, and swatching (imitating author argument). Throughout the semester and all of the papers written I can say that it was a good experience to write at a college level and the expectation from college professors is good for future courses that involve writing essays.…

If I were being honest then I would say coming into English 102 my writing skills were worth a low C. Prior to English 102 writing for me would be very confusing and stressful. As I read the short stories and drama in class my writing started to improve because I saw different angles and point of views that a writer has to offer to his/her audience. By reading Shakespeare it helped me understand how to develop a certain form of…

English 101 taught me how to be more creative and broad about writing. Example on Essay 1 I didn’t really mention anything about Sonia Sotomayor’s mother not wanting her to work, and behind that was facts and important information about he context that I missed. I also approach my assignments differently now; I make sure my paragraphs are structured in the write order for an easy read for the reader. I realized when I start off with a good approach on a topic I have to tools and skills learned in class to expand ideas and write a solid piece of writing to read. I did also realize that I am bad to start off with, I haven’t seemed to find that spark to start me off right, so I guess that’s why they call it a shitty first…

Throughout this semester of English 101, writing has become more of a skill than a struggle. Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. This course made me very doubtful on whether I could be capable of even writing a paper that would provide me with a decent grade, but at the same time made me push myself in my writing technique. In the end, I can reflect that I learned from my mistakes and wrote papers that took time and dedication to accomplish. English 106 was the first real college class that I ever stepped foot in, and because of that, I was extremely nervous and unsure. The English teachers at my high school always said that the papers they assigned were held to college standards, and I always did well on those assignments, but I was still unsure about this course. I expected this course to be loaded with reading and writing assignments that would make me pull all-nighters on a regular basis. After going through English 106, I realized that there were not too many assignments and that I learned a lot from each one. To me, the most salient parts of this course were the discourse community paper, the annotated bibliography, the art analysis, peer reviews, revisions, and reflections.…

As I think about my experiences throughout the semester of English 101, I have realized that I have learned some very important requirements that are important to help improve my writing. “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything (George Bernard Shaw).” During this course, reading and comprehending the materials given was not only a tough task for me but it was also demanding. I was challenged to change my thought process on what it was to be a good writer. The concept of understanding the value of correctly communicating thoughts differs from learning to apply the techniques needed to communicate successfully.…
