Divergent: Chapter 40: Not the End, by Anika Chandwani
I awake in tears to the agonizing memory of my mother’s death. The way that the inanimate soldier took her out, not knowing that he was in a trance. I panic, forgetting where I am, but all my consciousness comes rushing back to me, as I feel Tobias’ slow breathing.
“He was the only one who kept me alive”, I thought to myself.
Nevertheless, I slowly ease back into position contemplating the past few months. Me befriending Christina and Tori, the deaths of people dear to me, and worst of all, the destruction of Abnegation and Dauntless.
Abruptly, the train comes to a screeching halt. I quickly wake Tobias so we can get off the train. I immediately realize that the train had stopped near Amity headquarters.
“Are you ready,” Tobias whispers in my ear.
“Yes,”

Accordingly, I realize that the look of concern, is not to me, but to Peter, who is inconveniently wearing a Dauntless shirt. Thankfully, I realize that I am wearing my father’s shirt and Tobias is wearing Caleb’s. Since the Amity are known for staying away from the Dauntless, it is ordinary for them to act in such a manner. They try to stay away from the Dauntless as much as possible, and no one questions it. I make my way over to their leader, Johanna Reyes, and plead for her help, “Please help us, we really need it,” I look pointedly at Peter’s shirt, which is soaked with blood. She quickly sends someone to aid him while I talk to …show more content…
We just require one day of your time, and when you want us to leave, just say the word,” I finish.
“We aren’t very glad that we have Dauntless anywhere near our compound,” she says pointedly at Peter, but we will make accommodations for all of you, for one night. After that you are on your own,” Johanna says to

The novel Ordinary People written by Judith Guest, in my opinion, was an exceptional book. I felt as if I was the main character, Conrad Jennings, as the story developed. As his day progressed he showed his inner thoughts in great detail which was not like the Film. The film showed him having flashbacks and nightmares of how he was feeling which I did care for as much. I enjoyed reading how he was feeling in that exact moment instead of visually seeing flashbacks of the tragedy with his brother.…

Insurgent began with a very interesting and fast-pasted start beginning only an hour after the previous book in the series Divergent. I thought this was very well done by the author because while it would have been better to read the previous book in the series, the way the author Veronica Roth wrote the book, any reader that did not read the previous book Divergent would be able to understand what was going on in the plot of the book by the end of the first chapter. Roth’s’ writing style made this possible for readers. Next, Roth’s character development was also executed very well in that one of the main characters named Tris had been turned from a shy-static girl into an intelligent-dynamic risk taker by the challenges the author had presented…

Jars of Red Germanium In all the years since Maycomb was first established, many different changes have occurred, but the one place that remained the same, was the cemetery. The place had a gloomy and dilapidated feel to it, nobody had the money to fix it, and nobody had the will to do it. The bushes were overgrown and weeds spewed out from cracks in the pavement. On the day of Bob’s funeral, the sun was hidden from us behind the curtain of grey clouds.…
