Reflection Paper On Being A Successful Person

What does the word ‘success’ or the phrase ‘I am successful’ mean to you? In my opinion, being a successful person isn’t about how much money you have, or what you possess, but it is achieving the many aspects of life that makes you a successful human being. In this assignment, I am going to talk and reflect about two of the many aspects, that are goal setting & time management, as well as developing cultural competence and to have good communication skills. Firstly, goal setting and time management plays a huge part in everyone’s life. The greatest leaders of all time are also excellent communicators and orators as people often recognize the value of those who can communicate effectively. Communication between people will also be more effective if the speakers adjust to listeners and vice versa. This is because the listeners may misjudge the messages that the speaker never intended. Other than that, we also have to adapt to the communication styles of different generations as all generations come with different characteristics that will affect intergenerational communication. I recently started to practice communication skills with my family members at home and I realized that if you wish to have an effective conversation, you have to be surrounded in a comfortable environment as well as choosing the right time to initiate the conversation. My interviewee also mentioned that we have to communicate earnestly with as much clarity as possible, this will ensure that the person we communicate with understands what we are talking about. In conclusion, I believe that there are more than dozens of ways to live a successful life, but by specializing in setting goals and managing your time along with developing cultural competence and having the ability to communicate efficiently with one another, we would be successful in no
