Through my experience before and after working with those struggling with addiction I have come to realize how this “just world” impacts those struggling with addiction. One individual that I would speak with before and after the group interaction would tell me about the guilt shame and remorse he carried. He describe to me that he felt this was his life and that it was all that he ever knew. He grew up in a family of drug addicts, he had done many things he was not proud of and he believes this is the only life available for himself. That he deserves what he has been given.
