Over 19,000 people are on death row across the world, waiting to be executed. The death penalty is cruel, inhuman, degrading and a violation of the right to life. I am against the death penalty. Always. Regardless of who is under indictment, the crime that was committed, the person is guilty or innocent, or the method the state uses.

The death penalty provides no less crime. On the contrary, we know from the US, it rather increases crime. If a criminal has killed somebody and know that they risk the death penalty, it may be equally beating another 10 to death.

After what I have learnt from doing this assignment I feel a lot more clarified with my own position on death penalty.
I am against death penalty because I do not think you have to decide over other people's death destinies. And I'm strict opponent of the famous quote "an eye for an eye".
The right to life is a fundamental human right which executions contrary, I think. Moreover, it is really worrying that there is a risk of death sentencing innocent. Some death rows in the United States have been exonerated based on DNA samples. At the same time, it is problematic to punish with an irrevocable severe punishment when the preventive effect is greater.
I do not think that we should introduce capital punishment in Denmark because I believe that the Danes would consider it to be an easy solution, whereas in the for example religious countries feel they are often the waiting criminals something far worse than what you could
