Critical reflection
My Initial reaction to video was extreme sympathy, empathy and rage. I recognized my disgust in the behaviors of precious’s parents in relation to the treatment and care of precious. I further recognized however. How real this situation could be within the career and field of work that Social Workers are providing services through. Acknowledging that my disgust would need extreme self-awareness to check, acknowledge, and learn about my own personal bias and limitations when working with families that possibly are similar to that of precious’s family. I felt extreme sadness for the situations and experiences that precious as a child and a human was facing. I wanted to rescue her and provide her with all the things she was wrongfully stripped of. This framework fit with this particular situation due to the large breadth of concerns and needs the client had. By case managing and being a resource to connect the individual to further assistance what is qualified and best suited to help the individual it works in the clients best interest. Further breaking the needs and tasks into smaller tasks that are measurable and built on preexisting strength allows the client, and worker to measure progress. Further it provides more opportunities for felt success to continue to help motivate the client in the direction of change. Pertinent information this theoretical approach may have missed is the deep seeded causes, and abuses that have impacted precious’s current situation. Though connecting her with further qualified resources to best assist with these concerns, it has the possibility of being overwhelming. Not only is precious dealing with all the past abuse, and changed setting she recently had to accept, but now she has a list of tasks that may overwhelm her, or that she may not be stable enough to
