I appreciate the involvement of all the people, yet I am not sure when the information about harassment becomes reliable. For example, emotional bullying is not visible, therefore the reporting person needs to either hear it with their own ears or be told what happened. How will they know it is true? As a Christian, I know that all humankind has wicked hearts and is prone to sin, such as lying (Jer 17:9). I remember elementary school students getting angry at each other and in bitterness coming to the teacher telling them about the bad things the other does to them. The teacher needs to have a great amount of discernment. As a future student teacher, I pray for wisdom with the problems as well as for courage that I need to take a risk and report an accident. In my human nature, I do not like to get involved in others problems. Yet, as a teacher, I should model my Lord. Jesus is my Protector and cares for my safety greatly. Everyone in being an example of some kind and having an impact on those around. The only thing we have is a choice in the kind of witness and impact we provide. Respect toward others, treating them kindly, with patience and love, speaks to my Christian heart. As a follower of Jesus, my responsibility of keeping my testimony is even greater.
