Workplace Motivation
Motivation has been outlined as "those psychological processes that cause the arousal, direction, and persistence of voluntary actions that area unit goal directed" (Mitchell, 1982, p. 81). Maslow’s hierarchy of desires advocated a learning setting that promotes and meets the varied desires and expectations of staff (Wilson & Madsen, 2008). They are intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation means it is internal. Intrinsic motivation relates to people are compelled to do something to make certain activities rewarding in for them and importance or desire. Extrinsic motivation means it is external. Extrinsic motivation relates to some external factors are compelling the person to do something i.e. a kinds of rewards and reinforcements used by some external agents to direct behavior (Beck, 1978) (Wilson & Madsen, 2008). Structure efforts to boost worker performance within the organization by involving the employees compensation into the stocks has met with mixed emotions and support over the previous couple of years.
