From the moment I took my first step into the classroom, I knew that this class would be completely different from the other management classes I have taken. I was terrified that I was walking into unknown territory, and I did not know how to act. The class is completely unstructured and it is not something I was used to, so I did contemplate whether I should switch out of the class or not because I was weary of change. In the end, I did decide to stay in the class because I wanted to overcome my fear and to allow myself to experience something new. The whole class setting and the way we approach certain topics was very unorthodox, and it took me awhile to reevaluate my understanding of what management is. Every discussion that we did in class …show more content…
When I have to enter the workforce, there will be people who are different from me, and I need to know how to overlook our differences so that we are able to work in a cohesive unit. Differences in the workforce will allow diversity to take root and for creativity to flow, so it is extremely crucial that I learn to embrace what I don’t understand. In the classroom, we are divided into teams so that we are able to understand what group dynamic is but the whole class is still considered an organization. This is like describing how a company is divided into different departments, and those departments has their own task to accomplish, but they are still responsible for making sure that they are functioning as a cohesive whole. We have done many activities and assignments that work to help us understand what group dynamic is. I think that we were divided into team so that it is easier to nurture and develop our team relationship. We had to start with building relationships with the people in our team before we could understand how to nurture a relationship with the whole organization. The assignments and the group activities has helped us bond over our similarities and embrace each other’s differences because at the end of the day, we are all the same entity and we are all working towards one final

During this summer session of ENGL101A, I have learned multiple ways to express myself through my writing. In fact, before signing up for this class, I did not know the proper way to compose an academic essay for a particular audience, and how to properly cite my sources. Nevertheless, after the short summer session, I am able to define my purpose and audience, analyze critically any piece of information, and write with proper citations and fewer grammatical errors with confidence. Through the short time of 5 weeks, I learned how to focus on my audience as well as how to define the purpose of my papers as academically as possible.…

Portfolio reviewers: My pre-ECU 2201 experience was my English 1100 course. While taking this class online, I learned how to make an interesting essay. Though this class didn 't require much research, it taught me how to write an interesting essay. Most of the time the professor gave us the decision to write whatever we wanted to write on. There might been some times where he wanted us to write a specific topic, but still had the chance to write whatever we wanted within the topic.…

Over the course of this semester I learned a lot about myself as a writer. This English 1010 class has really allowed me to expand my essay structure and ways of thinking. When I first started this course, I was scared and didn’t really know what to expect. I branched out to different styles and types of essays as well as incorporating outside sources into my work. Your English 150 class helped comprehensively in developing my writing and oral skill sufficiently. As I was assigned to do the five major assignments excluding the E-portfolio, I learned how to creatively format my writings with a combination of formality and rhetoric. Generally, each different assignment has its unique style of writing which made me think about being a blogger in the future. Since writing is an artistic method of expressing feelings and converting them into written words, I was able to link my self to write about each aspect I am interested in. Doing the WOVE assignments will fully prepare for a higher English class in the future, like: English 250 next semester.…

The Relevance and Significance of this Capstone It appears that this course will richly complement the courses I have taken based upon the criminal justice field. Essentially, a discernible similarity I have identified between this course and others I have taken is that it will provide me with the tools to effectively serve the public. I had taken a class in which its primary focus was on the cultural differences within society and how to approach individuals from all walks of life. I believe that this culturally- oriented class corresponds with this capstone because the principles of both emphasize the importance of meeting the diverse set of needs retained by those within society.…

It was the first time the emphasis was placed on the group, not in the individual abilities and skills. Adapting to others personalities and putting differences aside to function as a whole was the key to success. I learned my individual strengths, became confident in them, and used them to learn how to lead. But, I remained humble with my weaknesses and deferred them. Now, group work does take place in other classes, but typically group work in other subject is much smaller and is self-chosen.…

Throughout my time in high school, I began to notice a trend of the students who were in the classroom or clubs with me. I would look to my left; then my right, and saw that I was a little different than the rest of the class. On game days I am the only one in the room wearing a football jersey. When identifying my race on a questionnaire, I will also be the only one not marking white or Caucasian. I often question why athletes or minorities do not take the Advance Placement (AP) Courses offered at my school or participate in extracurricular activities not related to sports.…

When I started English Composition 1 class, I felt that I needed to improve my writing skills. Most of what I had learned in high school was different than that of my college English course. During this semester, our class worked on several different types of essays which included basic argument essay, rhetorical analysis, synthesis essay, and finally a reflective essay. After almost completing the course, I feel like I have grown to become a more prepared writer because of all the useful information that I have learned. I know that everything that I have learned in this semester will be useful for my future classes and work, where I will be most likely writing scholarly essays, lab reports, and so on.…

I learn through actions the best so maybe I need to learn how to grow on that and use my paper and pencil to learn.…

When most people think of a history class they imagine sitting in a dark lecture hall taking notes off a PowerPoint presentation, memorizing a few dates and people, repeating it on the test. Truly studying history, I learned, is more than memorization of a previously told story and accepting it as true. In this class I have learned history is about actively engaging the material, picking apart the details and nuances, creating and using timelines, finding deeper meaning in the material, asking questions, then looking again and digging deeper. It is not a passive study and not about memorization as I believed at the beginning of the semester. History is about asking questions and looking for answers, not just accepting what is already there, but…
