Applications and The Decision In August of 2012, I started Wake Early College of Health and Sciences. I learned about the school from my former middle school, West Cary, and I started learning more and more about it before I applied. Wake Early College and STEM Early College came to my middle school to give a presentation on the schools, and my dad was taken away with how great Wake Early College was. I, however, liked STEM more because it was at North Carolina State University, and I knew that if I could do well in the high school classes and college classes mixed there, then I would have a great chance of getting into NCSU. At this point in time, I was wanting to become a Child Physician. …show more content…
My first class was Spanish II with Mrs. Piner, my second class was HEA-110 (College Health), my third class was Biology with Mrs. Mechalske, and my fourth class was Common Core Math 3 with Mrs. Barnes. Spanish II an extremely tough course for me, and I am still not sure as to how I passed the course. HEA-110 was my first real college class with real college students, so it was so much easier than all of the rest of the courses that I had to take. Biology was also a very fun class because of how the teacher taught it, but I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Common Core Math 3 with Mrs. Barnes was one of the best classes ever because I enjoy math a lot, but it was still hard because I had not practiced over the summertime. The next semester, my first class was Civics and Economics with Mrs. Tonissen, my second class was Chemistry with Dr. Colbert, my third class was English II with Mrs. Nelson, and my fourth class was Integrated Math 4 with Mrs. Barnes. Civics and Economics was a fun class for me because I wanted to become a lawyer, and the course taught us a little about law and our justice system. English II was a class. I don’t know how to even describe this class because it is just one of those things that are very hard to explain; however, if I have to choose one word to describe that class, it would be “horrible.” I am going to stop there before I say something I don’t mean. Chemistry with Dr. Colbert was absolutely amazing. This class was the class that I did not do as well as I thought I would, but it was amazing learning about Chemistry principles, and how we use it every day. Math, this semester, was slightly harder because I hadn’t practiced over the summer. That year, I did Science Olympiad again, and I earned 2nd place in Astronomy out of 24 schools, and 2nd in Geologic Mapping out of 24 schools, and our school got 7th place
