Reflection On Tyler Perry's Have Or The Have Nots

Decent Essays
So far I have been to only one of the convocations they had before homecoming. Sometimes when people talk about convocation they talk about it like it’s a waste of time. But the one this Friday was definitely a sight to behold. Before I went to the convocation I grabbed something to eat with my friends. So we can come when the real stuff starts that ended up being a mistake. Because even though the food was good, there was no seats due to the many FAMU alumni. Along with the multitude of parents who was there. Around the time they came the introduced the guest speaker Angela Robinson. Who has a prominent acting role on Tyler Perry’s Have or the Have nots. She had a great message and she had the whole crow buzzing from her uplifting message.

I believe that the motto “Once a Falcon, Always a Falcon,” is a perfect motto to describe myself as both a person and student. Growing up, I always took pride of my hometown (Vermilion, Ohio). My hometown, paired with the rollercoaster of experiences I endured throughout middle school and high school, made me who I am today. Granted, there were hard times and struggles, but I would not be where I am today had I not grown from those experiences. As I stated in my application, I represented my school and hometown at the 2013 Buckeye Boys Convention.…

After a dreadful attendance of only 21,000 for last year's spring game, Coach Jim McElwain and crew tried something different this year to boost attendance by hosting the game on a Friday night for the first time in history, and it paid off. As kickoff approached, University Ave was flooded with pedestrians in orange and blue apparel. Football was in the air, at least for a night, but that was good enough to bring together 46,000 fans and over 40 recruits into The Swamp to watch the Gators. Will Norris, a UF Student and a member of Phi Delta Theta, acknowledged he’s noticed a difference of the atmosphere on campus this year with the game being played on a Friday night, “Students are actually looking forward this year's game with Florida coming off their first SEC title since Tebow, plus, they don’t have to sit through a scorching noon game, and we get a first look at…

This convocation was very inserting. The first time that I notice was when they ask people to stay for the national anthem a few people remain seat and several people did not salute. Some one behind me even made the comment that they only stood for the national anthem because the school was black. This made me think about how on social media a lot of people are refusing to stand for the national anthem. The speaker for the convocation was Andrell Harris.…

Growing up, I definitely had a warped view on Greek Life. I presumed being in a sorority would be how the media portrayed it – crazy, dramatic, and dangerous. However, coming to Babson, I saw a different story. I observed a community of strong women supporting each other through encouragement and shared purposes. Every sorority woman I met my first semester of freshman year raved about their experiences and passion for their sisterhood.…

This article was quite disturbing. But I do not believe that Perry intentions are to present his work as being disrespectful.…

This assignment was to go around UConn and take ten pictures of things that I either loved or hated about UConn. For this assignments, my classmates and I used photo voice as the research method. Overall, I enjoyed this method of research, though it did have its limitations. Some of the limitations of the method are that there are only so much one can capture with a picture. Motion was not easy to capture so that point could not always come across as strong as it could as with other methods.…

One of the reasons I would be honored to be a student ambassador is because I want to introduce and familiarize other prospective students with the school that I love so much, that has opened so many doors of opportunities, introduced me to so many amazing people, and has given me a top notch education. I want to encourage students who are perhaps unsure if WSU is right for them, or if college in general is right for them, that WSU and all that it has to offer makes it the place for anyone, from all backgrounds, all experiences, and all areas of interests. This is because WSU also offers majors, clubs and organizations, and communities in which anyone can find a sense of belonging and acceptance. Aside from the school itself, WSU is home to…
