Choice of Topic
I chose to write about food scarcity because growing up in Mississippi, I noticed how some of my classmate would eat lunch as if it was the only meal they would eat all day. At that time in my life however, I was too young and lacked the knowledge of how to conduct research. I would notice the homeless people who you not ask my mother for money but for a meal and the look in their eyes. During my Summer break visits to Virginia, my grandfather and his father grew a garden together in which they donated the vegetables and other food items to the foodbank. In my Fall 2016 semester of college, I did an informative speech in my public speaking class on food scarcity and my curiosity and desire to help started to grow. According

I would improve funding by getting grants to ensure that as many people that need help or food could get it and to pay the volunteers so that the hours could be extended. I would be clarify that even Thrive Peninsula is a Christian ministry that all denominations are welcome, especially since Christians have a bad stereotype of being judgmental towards others. I would change the service of the pantry and outreach center from being by call-ahead appointment to anytime since emergencies often happen unexpectedly.

My ideal organization is going to be called Food for Thought, LLC. I created this organization to offer aid to those in danger of not getting their basic need of food and shelter; also resources to help get housing and a solid income. Food for Thought will provide free food, both perishable and nonperishable. We will always provide room and board with free clothes for daily changing.

Our mission statement is to provide warm housing, clean clothes, and fresh food daily. We will provide specific resources to each person to help secure housing and a stable income within their trade and aid in their learning of a trade at no

For my final paper, I am going to evaluate a program called Beacon Hill Village (BHV). The village concept is initiated in 1999, at central Boston by a group of friends who wanted to be active in their own neighborhood, while living in their own homes. They wanted more control of their life, and they argued that they can take care of themselves instead of being taken care of. Therefore, the main idea of this village is sense of purpose. Beacon Hill Village had their first member in January 2002 and have grown to nearly 400 members.…

I believe a large percentage of the Abundant Life Center’s membership would have no idea of the day-to-day needs of the marginalized within the St. Joseph area. Even though our own membership reflects a snapshot of the marginalized in St. Joseph, we frequently respond to the these needs on a project-by-project bases, as opposed to trying to building Zion within the context of the lives of those suffering. For example, I remember gathering several children, with a car full of Christmas goodies to meet the needs of a family. As we arrived we unpacked the groceries and gifts, sang carols and went on our way. On the way home, my daughter ask, “Mom where will they eat their Christmas dinner?”…

Feed my starving children is a non-profit organization that packages food to send to malnourished children in several countries. These sustainable meals are made specifically to pack as many nutrients as possible to help nourish and strengthen the children so they can be healthy and conquer their fight against starvation. When most people think about global hunger they think of a lack of production of food in developing countries, however, it’s more than that. Global hunger encompasses not only food production and security, but also distribution and access. Feed my starving children distributes their packed food to about 70 countries which gives children in these countries access to food that otherwise would not be there.…
