The particular group that I joined was called the Pahokee Parent Group. The main reason for me attending this group is because, parents can come together, and discuss different aspects of what’s going on in their child education life and such as school events. When I mention school events, they talk about graduation, adecmics, fundraisers and other types of aspects. I found this group from the current school that my son is attending .I was ask to sign my son up for T-ball and I did just that. Once I signed my son up I had learned about this parent group that they had will different types of other moms. Once I became an active member in the group I begin to notice how much important information they had to give away. This group is affiliated with another organization that’s called Lutheran Services in which they provide trains and information packages for the Pahokee Parent group.

I attend group by going inside a center, and talking with different individuals face to face. Sometimes, if I wasn’t able to attend the group session they would send information to my phone or through Facebook. During this meeting they would discuss things like the concerns of graduation events in terms of colors, all the parent would decide and come up with one color and theme. In this group meeting we would also discuss, the back grounds parents would like to choose. We would talk about behavior issues and what we could do in terms of helping out children maintain a good behavior environment, and work habits. The need to give Spanish-speaking parents a voice on school issues is vital for student’s academic success. A bilingual P.T.A and parent liaison team was recently formed by a Hispanic parent who felt Hispanic voices weren’t being expressed and heard. This provided Hispanic parents a community outlet of their own where they feel valued and understood. Bilingual PTA members regularly meet with the existing PTA to ensure a working relationship that makes positive changes in the school. Continuing this partnership is important because a separation between the two communities could do more harm than good, but since this has been established, we have seen the growing involvement of Hispanic parents in the school.…

The reason is because the Latino community needs more leadership to be developed. By this, I don’t mean that we need well-spoken and charismatic people to begin giving speeches about improving the community, but that we need the average person to contribute to the Latino community. We need people to arrange more workshops about the Hispanic community. Within the workshops, people can discuss immigration, scholarships for Hispanic student, and ideas to further the Latino community.…
