Reflection On The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Test

Improved Essays
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test is a questionnaire that is designed to indicate psychological preferences in people. The personality type I received from the test was ENFP (Extrovert iNtuitive Feelings Perceiving). I have a 34% preference towards extroversion, a 3% preference towards intuition, a 6% preference towards feelings, and a 20% preference towards perception. In regards to extroversion and perception, I exhibit a moderate preference. However, I show very little preference for intuition over sensing and perception over judging.
The first letter pertains to introversion versus extroversion. I am an extrovert. This means that I feel most comfortable in groups and prefer to connect with many people. Moreover, I get energy through

I am both. I have such a small slight preference to intuition that I believe that I am in the middle of the road for this trait. I like to pay attention to the impressions and the patterns, like someone with a preference to intuition, just slightly more than to the reality and the details, like someone with a preference to sensing. I like to formulaically solve my problems and work through possible solutions while keeping the facts in mind as well. I like to look for patterns and try to make up my own when taking in new information in order to understand it better. I also like to focus in the moment on the small things and worry about how it will affect the big picture later. Having no strong preference, the downsides to either trait have little effect to me. I think this preference depends on how I feel in the moment. For example, when I drive and try to navigate, I like to rely on my previous experiences and knowledge rather than go to a map. This suggests that I am more sensing than intuitive. However, other times I lean towards the intuitive trait. I will daydream of multiple solutions to situations I am in without actually putting them into effect because I am too caught up in the possibilities. I am both sensing and …show more content…
I am a perceiver. This trait suggests that I like to be flexible with my plans and schedule. Furthermore, I keep an open mind to ideas and possibilities but can become indecisive because I am too open to new ideas. The downside to this preference is that I may get unorganized and may prioritize things that I want to do rather than want needs to be done. I display this trait in my daily life. For example, I will plan events or activities with my friends as late as possible. This is because I want to get as many relevant and recent opinions about any idea before making a decision. I want to appeal to everyone and hear all possible ideas that I should account for. I also display this in how I adapt to the world around me rather than trying to make it the way I want. What this means is that I prefer to adapt to any new environment I am put in rather than change it to fit how I am. I am a
