Learning to write When I attended elementary school, part of the curriculum was penmanship. There was a certain segment of instruction dedicated to penmanship rather than writing. We were given large sheets of oat colored paper with three parallel lines widely spaced. The alphabets were used to print and write in cursive using the midpoint, and upper lines for capital letters. The handwriting grades were based on neatness and readability.…

I have missed a lot of school days and that has really affected my grades for all my classes. The days that I have been in class I end up putting my head down for the reason I don't feel good and I dont have the energy to do my work or to learn something new because as much as I try my head started hurting more. Dewey says that everyone perceives nature, or their environment, differently due to how their senses interact with the environment (p.22). The senses and intellect of a person are always communicating with each other as they try to perceive objects (p.22). Dewey states that “since sense-organs with their connected motor apparatus are the means of this participation” they can determine how a person experiences life (p.22). If people can understand how art is meaningful, they can then see how their own life is meaningful. Dewey believes that people gain an esthetic quality in their life experiences once they observe an experience after it occurred, both good and bad, and see how everything came together (p.39).…

This current semester I had the opportunity to do a project that allowed me to visit one of my friend’s family to observe her three girls. I observed her three daughters to see how each one of them is developing. I was fortunate enough to have three different ages that are at different stages of life. One just started school, the other one is not in school yet and the youngest was born less than a year ago. It really opened my eyes to how two year differences can really impact the stage the children were at.…
