Upon my journey of reflection during project 1 I have realized that I value education. It’s a way of not only gaining knowledge but sharing it with others. This caused me to gain interest in finding organizations for project 2 that relates to the idea of sharing knowledge and experiences. OU cousin’s is an organization held in campus. Their purpose is to match international students with one American student who shares the same interest, major, and hobbies. They encourage and promote the involvement of students with each other to develop the understanding of different cultures and experiences as well as creating new friendships. The presentation was full of pictures about the past events, plus their facilities which made it really interesting to hear about. the person was enthusiastic about the group which made me feel more comfortable about it and made me more interested to attend it. He did include everything in his talk, where he talked about their aim, events, way to involve, and etc. Recently, I searched for their Facebook account to gain more knowledge about the organization. The first thing that really grabbed by attention was the pictures of how everyone’s involve in the various number of events and activities they held during last semester. I knew then that this is the organization I want to interview, and I did so by searching for their website and under the contact information category were the phone numbers, email, and location. Her main responsibility in this organization was to join two students, an American one with an international one. In order to be paired with a “cousin” the two students must have a couple of things in common as well as sharing the same interest. The sharing process can happen either by having these two students meet each other and decide who their cousin should be, or through a computer program that can help the pairing of the two students. I then asked her about the certain goals they would like to achieve. She said “making it more like a family, because it is to experience other cultures and just to come together and be friends”.
