What have I learned?
During the project, I handled communication with our audience and working on interviews with our targets with my colleagues. I also attended all meetings with our group to discuss and work part by part as scheduled with my classmates. I have learned from Communication for the Innovation Process how to use my brain better than before, to organize my thinking process in a way to facilitate my thinking method and creativity in more effective manner. In addition, I likewise began to comprehend what I think may not be exact, as the way I see the world may not be the truth in the external world. I likewise discovered that a person attitudes, standards and recognitions can influence his practices, and eventually his fortunes or his fate. The main challenge of this group situation is that there was a sudden rise of conflict among members at the beginning to mid phase of the project. This resulted the possible development of groupthink (Janis, 2008). As a leader in this situation, I would firstly feel lousy and disappointed in myself that I didn’t take note of group’s division and how the meeting could be more inclusive of everyone’s opinion (Chadha, 2016). However, at that point, I would also probably feel confused but yet curious as to why it was suddenly voiced out, hence thought that I should facilitate to explicit the thoughts and feelings of each member to better understand as well.…

I feel as if the group project could have been done a lot better I felt as there was more of a focus on getting to know one another rather than focusing on the assessment. Currently I am not as confident on working with individuals that I don’t know so well as I was when we first started as I realized not everyone in the group had the same approach towards the task as I did especially in terms of prioritization despite this I believe I am more confident in showing leadership as Staci and Emily had other commitments I attempted to accommodate for this by contacting them and working out times when they were both free I believe this was a positive thing as normally in group assessments I have a tendency to rely on other people to make decisions like this and it was a positive experience delegating rather than receiving tasks. Overall working with Staci and Emily was fine as I have a more passive personality in group assignments it was a good learning experience for me a study has also shown that working as group positively influences and facilitates an exchange of knowledge(Shaw, Mitchell and Del Fabbro, 2015) this definitely occurred during our group work when it came to elaborating on social determinants I was able to help both Staci and Emily better understand them while Staci assisted me in learning about the stream factors overall I believe we compensated very well for each other’s gaps of knowledge . On the other side of the spectrum our fourth member Louis was difficult to work with as he contacted us the weekend before the assignment was actually ready to present and this caused a lot of stress and panic, after talking to Emily and Staci they definitely felt the same way about the situation with…

Having started the People and Organization module, in the first week of seminar, forming a group was necessary, as it was a discussion based activity, but unknowingly it helped me form my group for the Junction Hotel presentation. The aim behind this piece of writing is to reflect upon the process and the formation of my group. Reflection is ‘... a form of mental processing with a purpose and/or anticipated outcome that is applied to relatively complex or unstructured ideas for which there is not an obvious solution’. (Moon 1999 pg.23). Moon (1999) also states that we reflect for many reasons; important reasons being to critically review our behavior and that of others.…

Introduction Schawlow (1981) proposes that "the most successful scientists often are not the most talented" (Amabile, 1997, p.39), therefore it stresses the importance to find the ones that are driven by curiosity. By finding the right person to do the right task, initiating their creativity is the first step to increasing innovation in the workplace. Since innovation is vital for the long-term success, a company need to recognise the necessity of innovation which in order to fit the rapid change of the industry. The reason behind is that the company itself cannot survive by delivering the same products and services so leaders have to increase the level of innovation in their organisations to avoid elimination. Therefore, this essay is structured…

For successful execution in innovation, diversity and inclusion are common design elements in five theories: absorptive capacity, actor-network, agency, attachment, and attribution theories. Through these five theories, I would like to share my thoughts about why diversity and inclusion are common elements in five theories, which make a huge difference in innovation. Here are the details: Absorptive capacity supports diversity and inclusion that recognizes the value of new knowledge, assimilates it, and uses it toward achieving innovation. In order to be innovate, we need to help our teams better absorb and use new knowledge to accomplish our innovative goals. Through diversity, absorptive capacity greatly impacts the ideas of technological…

You could say we went through the “forming” and “storming” stages of group work that semester. Second semester, after we had an opportunity to analyze each other’s strengths, we were able to work much more efficiently. We evolved into a united group with common goals, and this evolution is reflected in the deliverables we created in 732 to 752. We learned a lot about the questions to ask when designating roles on a project and paying attention to identify these strengths. We also learned about our own strengths in the process.…

The Discipline of Innovation by Peter F. Drucker highlights some key concepts of innovation and facilitates a discussion of sorts regarding how much of innovation is inspiration and how much of it is actually hard work. After expending effort to describe the essence of innovation and what it truly is, Drucker begins to discuss the fact that innovation has several specific sources. Furthermore, the remainder of the article dives deeply into several different sources of innovation; three of those sources are known to present themselves from within a company or organization, these being unexpected occurrences, incongruities, process needs, along with industry…

At the beginning of the semester, we were assigned a team project. At first, the assignment sounded difficult to me because it was just at the beginning of the semester and I did not know my classmates or the team members assigned to my group. With the help of the teachers I was able to meet and get to know my team members by their names, we exchanged our phone numbers and email address to ease communication. In our first meeting, we were able to select the team leader, come up with the rules to govern the team and also plan the times we were going to be holding the team meeting every week. In our second session, we were able to come up with the project, discuss the project then divided and allotted tasks to each member.…
