In this week’s lesson I, continue my third article reflection on Diagnosing Hunting Rifle Accuracy. In the first two articles I, was shown how to improve a customer’s accuracy. In this article I, reflect on accuracy with rifle scopes. There are many conditions that will impact a shooters accuracy such as; bodily fatigue, weather conditions, equipment and poor shooting fundamentals. I, always get tired of hearing the unbelievable shooting stories that are like fishing and catching a fish that would flip the boat over.
When shooting, there are very few people that can achieve under Minute of Angle (M.O.A) all day long. The consistency will change due to numerous conditions. After 17 years of looking at shooters, my favorite laughing moments come from looking at shooters with a Chinese knock off scope that is guaranteed to fail. It fails the confidence test due to horrible glass, shock proofing, water proofing and over all ruggedness. When choosing scopes, it’s best to conduct thorough research before tossing money out the window.

In the article a single shot Roberts was checked for accuracy by conducting load testing with different powders and projectiles. To ensure its accuracy, the hanger was glass bedded and screws were fitted for barrel tension. As a future gunsmith, I know that I should test out my work when I, complete the repairs on any weapon, so it will be beneficial to not only have membership at a gun range but also purchase or handload ammunition to conduct test with the weapons. As a future Gunsmith it’s important to ask the customer about the ammunition they used as it may be the culprit and they may need to be educated on what to
