Taking this college writing course has been beneficial to me as a writer in many ways. I expected to learn a lot about writing in this class and I did. The class pushed me to write my best, however it was not too in depth. I think the level of writing was beneficial to me in being able to master the basic concepts of writing. Overall my research assignment turned out to be a success for me because I chose a topic with enough depth to write about, found a substantial number of sources, and the topic I chose was something many people encounter and can relate to.

I always made sure I was utilizing scholarly journals. I also had to search for specific topics on bullying at times. I utilized the University of Maryland University College library database and chose scholarly journals only. Some of the topics I searched for utilizing subject terms were: effects of bullying, bullying and children, types of bullying, and cyber bullying. I had to sift through my results, but found multiple journals on each subject. I did not have an issue finding full text articles, but not all of the articles were applicable to what I was writing about. In some cases, only a portion of the article I found was useful in writing my paper. The UMUC library database was very easy to use and I felt no need to use any other search engines. Later on in my paper I realized that I chose a good topic and it became easier to write about. I also had to spend a good amount of time finding journals that specifically mentioned what I was writing about. There was not a shortage of articles about bullying itself, but a lot of them were not specific to the types and effects of bullying. My paper was easy to write about and was engaging to the reader because it was something that affects a large majority of
