Reflection On RBIT Screening

This week I helped with the RBIT screening process. SBRIT focuses on prevention, early detection, risk assessment, brief counseling and referral for assessment. My school district is having 10th and 7th graders participle in the surveys. The goal of having students complete the survey is to enable school heath teams to detect risk for substance use related problems and brief intervention strategies to help address such concerns at an early stage of student’s adolescent development. After observing I think SBRIT is very beneficial even though the students answer to questions are confidential. One student who we were interviewing opened up and explained that her father often drives drunk with her in the car. She also explained that many nights
