Reflection On Psi U's Second Coeducational Pledge Class

It is an honor and a privilege to be part of Psi U’s second coeducational pledge class. I think the reasons why both the men and women in my pledge class joined are extraordinary and contribute to the incredible ethos of the PSI U community. The men in the pledge class have been strong and supportive, and the women are pioneers. Together, we have all created a supportive, loving family.
Some of my favorite moments of freshman year were spent with my pledge class and Psi U brothers. I came into Psi U not knowing many people besides a few members of the squash team. Typically, I’m pretty quiet, but I was so excited when I received the bid, as it would give me the opportunity to meet new people at Wesleyan. I really put myself out there and

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority is an organization that I wanted to be a part of. When I first had an encounter with the women of this organization I saw how nice they all were, and I mean genuinely nice. That in itself showed me that the women in the organization are people that I could see myself being around for the rest of my life. They exemplified the kind of sisterhood that I would want to be affiliated with.…

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a boss is, “a person who exercises control or authority.” In the Phi Delta Epsilon (PhiDE) International Medical fraternity New York Delta chapter, the bosses of the potential new members are Sylvia Ayoub (Vice President Recruitment), Christina Walker and Jordan Moass (Recruitment Chairs). On wanting to join the pre-medical fraternity, we were to ardently follow and abide by the rules and standards set by the recruiting VP and chairs. Of the rules, the main ones are greeting each member by first and last names when we see them, collect a minimum of $5.00 from recyclable materials and complete 10 hours of studying. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a rule may be defined as, “a prescribed guide for conduct or action.”…

My interest for potentially becoming a part of the Psi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is based on the personal and professional development of its members and the social change that results in equality. I view Psi Theta Omega Chapter as a huge advocate for the metropolitan Orlando area when it comes to the community service and its involvement of its educational growth of its young ladies. These are a major focus that has sparked my interest in understanding what this Sorority does as a whole. I have always been an individual that loves serving the community being that I can make a change within someone’s life by helping them grow mentally and physically.…

Alpha Kappa Psi is an extraordinary experience I want to be in. There are so many parts about this fraternity the fascinate me. The part I like the best is the brotherhood every member shares. I like knowing there is always going to be someone there willing to lend you a hand and stick by your side no matter what. I am nice to everyone I talk to, but when I want to make a friendship; I want it to be something strong and long lasting.…

With that being said, I think there could be a few changes made to make each pledged member as comfortable and excited about their future in this chapter as imaginable. I want to help welcome the new sisters into our homes and introduce them to the women they’re going to spend the best four years of their life with. I want to be a part of helping build a strong unity within a single pledge class. Another reason I am applying for this position, is the same motive I wanted to join a chapter in the first place- to get involved. In high school I was in a program similar to the New Member Team called Link Crew.…

From middle school to high school, band became a vital part of my life. It was all I knew, it was where I felt comfortable, and this was where I pratically began learning about my leadership skills. However, my curiousity grew when I was introduced to Class Council. I thought that there was no difference, and I naively thought that since I have been a part of a leadership role for about 4 years, everyone knows me, so I thought Class Council could not be so hard. I was terribly wrong.…

It was the end of junior year when Wieman nominated several people, myself included, to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security in Washington D.C.. I had never been to the East coast so I jumped at the chance to go. It was extremely costly but strings were pulled and I actually came up with the $2000 tuition. Although it broke my wallet, it was by far the best six days of my life. I had an amazing journey and the destination was nothing to sneeze at either.…

It was fun talking to other science majors, and I even met another person named Olivia! I never presented my juggling in front of other people that I didn’t really know before, so that was different, but fun. I didn’t feel too awkward juggling in front of others, though, due to the fact that I have grown accustomed to presenting my schoolwork to my classmates over the years. In addition, I was able to meet several members of the Biology Department. Even though I’m not taking biology currently, nor in the near future, it could still be beneficial to me to know the professors in this department, considering the fact that I may have them when I’m a little older.…

It was my first Egg Bowl ever. It was also only my second time in Oxford. I am interested in membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., because of what Delta represents. To me Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. represents strong, educated black woman that are dedicated to improving their community. When I was a child I always said that I wanted to improve my community.
