Observation In Classroom Teaching

Going into my teaching in Clare I already knew a lot about the students because that same classroom is where I do My Pre-Student Teaching. With that said, I tried to be as objective as possible in these observations since I knew that this science placement has different requirements than my Pre-Student Teaching. Being able to objectively observe today and pulling in my observations from other times being in the class, I feel as though I have a greater understanding about the goings on in the classroom. I have the environment memorized, and I know which students have special needs and which ones need extra help; I also understand the classroom rules and developmental levels of the students. Looking around Ms. Babcock’s room she has the students divided into four different tables: Red, Yellow, Green and Blue. Other sections of the room are also marked by colors, Ms. Babcock’s desk is Pink, the center table is Orange, the reading table is Purple and she has an extra table that is White. The group rug is at the front of the room and it one of the few things that does not have a color associated with it. The learning environment and classroom are very …show more content…
Like previous stated I know which students have special needs, those who need simple accommodations and the different developmental levels of each student. For instance, I know that B has Autism and needs an aid to complete most tasks and that L needs a little extra help and accommodations. I also know that R and B.Y. are falling behind while H is quite far ahead. I also know that B.N. may seem like he is falling behind, but he is extremely intelligent if he can get it into his mind to finish is work and not disrupt the class by talking constantly. These are all of the things that I have learned over my time in Ms. Babcock’s class and they are things that help in managing the science

    Student A from the morning class has a learning disability that prevents him from focusing and becomes easily frustrated. During one on one instruction, I would repeat the directions and sometimes the child will have moments, For example, there was an ant on his backpack, and he began to scream and run while most students will stomp on the bug. Student A made progress but will benefit from special education because the student will receive more attention compared to a regular classroom.
