Reflection On Positive Behavior Intervention Support Initiative

At Challenger K8 I am the internal coach for the Positive Behavior Intervention Support initiative. As celebrations for nine grade level become expensive I wanted to incorporate a fundraiser for the next year events; however, after speaking with my principal she had asked me to work on a fund raiser for a marquee that cost $6,000. There have been many fund raisers within the school each year, so finding something different is hard.
1. Describe your planning activities. The planning for this fund raiser has been simplistic. I do not have the artistic talent to provide for this project, therefore, I have asked the middle school art teacher for her assistance. I have created a flyer to send home with students and a spread sheet to keep track of money, receipts, families, and messages.
2. Who/what were you raising funds for?

In the front of our school we did have an electronic scroll screen. That marquee only lasted 7 years and with two estimates on fixing it, the parts and labor will cost $15,000. The new principal has decided to try for a marquee with four lines with durable plastic lettering that is a third of the cost. She did ask the district if she could pay for it out of the principal discretionary funds, but was told no. Then she went to PTO and they said that was a bit too much. Here is where I come in. As I walked around the school I realized that there is so much art on the first floor and none on the second. We are going to sell surface area of a block for $25 each with a message of their choice. It is called Make Your Mark for the Marquee (The flyer is attached). On the second floor in the hallway will have the title of Making Your Mark Through Challenger. Underneath will be the message that each family has paid

Behavioral Definitions and Objectives: The report on Jason did a very good job identifying the problem behavior. One can see, that the report is broken into multiple sections such as general information, initial interviews, data collection, and behavior intervention plan. In addition, each section is broken down into subsections. Traditionally, disruptive behavior in the classroom resulted in negative consequences symbolized by the image of the misbehaving student wearing the “dunce cap” (Weaver, 2012). However, now schools throughout the United States have begun to adopt Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS), which is designed to increase the amount of positive affirmation that students receive when behaving appropriately in the classroom (Caldarella, Williams, Hansen, & Wills, 2015). Research has demonstrated that PBIS may have the potential to reduce conflict in schools and create a more supportive environment for students (Lane‐Garon, Yergat, & Kralowec, 2012). PBIS has the potential to reduce school conflict because it proactively teaches appropriate…

Looking back on these goals, I wish that I would have chosen better dates for these to be completed by. My original long-term goal was to lose twenty pounds, which now seems almost impossible due to me not being able to lose ten pounds in a few months. I was also unable to meet my three short term goals.…

College should offer students not only a strong academic awareness, but it should be friendly, helping and nurturing place for students. Concern of student’s personal and academic well-being should always be in a center of College’s mission. The student service program I would like to offer would be called “Arizona Hope and Help” or “AHH” and it would be focused on providing non-academic support for all at-risk students. The services, of course, would be provided free of charge to meet the unique and various needs of large group of “at-risk” students. In a highly competitive global economy, we need the best-educated workforce in the world.…
