Reflection On Peer Evaluation

Decent Essays
In my peer evaluation, the reader clearly stated the thesis statement, therefore it was a clear statement of the subject and purpose. The reader listed exactly all of my major points in the paper also. One thing that was pointed out in my paper was that contractions were used. Sometimes I get in the habit of just typing fast and forget, so I went through and corrected the few that I messed up on. Other than that, the reader for my peer evaluation obviously did not read through my whole paper, as that was all she said. Therefore, I asked an English major on my floor to read through my paper for mistakes. She found a couple mistakes with subject-verb agreement, so I went through and fixed those. Also, I used the word “finals” multiple times in

Peer review article evaluation The peer-reviewed article I chose is titled “Making healthcare safer by understanding, designing and buying better IT”. I found this article in the Medline database, by using the keywords “Informatics”, “patient”, and “safety”. Using the basic search options located below the keywords, I did not have much trouble locating a peer reviewed article concerning my topic. I selected peer reviewed journals, full text, citations, abstract available and inserted a date range.…

For the peer reflection project, I interviewed Alexis Dowdell about the time her family adopted her cousin, Rochell. I thought this process was very interesting. Interviewing someone I never spoke to before was new. Even though this was a different experience, I was not nervous or overthinking about the right approach. I felt the right approach to interview Alexis was to be myself.…

For my final portfolio I decided to use a research paper I did for project one in the beginning of the semester. To begin with I wrote this paper without taking a careful look at what I was writing. I mostly let my thoughts flow and let my fingers do the typing. However once, we did the peer review in class I had noticed that my partner had a good amount of corrections written down on my paper for me to look at. After I got my paper back I looked at the revisions made and saw I had some sentences that would go off topic from what I was talking about, I repeated myself, and had a lot of grammatical errors.…

Peer assisted learning has many positive aspects. It can be hard to communicate through different levels. People who are very fluent in a subject can miss little things that can make a big difference in understanding what is being said. A peer tutor is, well a peer. They often have a similar track and can communicate from a learner level rather than a teaching level.…

My experience with peer editing has overall been a positive experience for a couple reasons, the first being the ideas another person brings to your writing. My peers have always been supportive and helpful with my papers when it comes to my ideas not being totally organized. Getting another opinion has always been something that I have found helpful when I am writing, especially when my paper has not been completely finished. Although, when my paper is finished and I go through peer editing I get a little nervous. I get nervous because I have put so much work into this one paper and the thought of a peer saying something negative about my paper makes me anxious.…

Graduate Internship One resource that the after-school will need is before conducting an evaluation is an external evaluator. Currently, staff members don’t have the skill required to conduct a program evaluation. One recommendation would be partnering with a university where graduate students can assist with data collection and analysis. In New York City three institutions specialize in Measurement, Evaluation, and Statistics: Teacher College at Columbia University, Baruch College: School of Public Affairs, and NYU Steinhardt. The first step will be contacting department chairs and professors to see if they are interested in developing a partnership.…

Mistakes cannot always be seen as a negative, as you can move on and correct them to better your knowledge. From my first essay this semester to my last I have seen a vigorous amount of improvement. Not only seen in my grades, but in the way my writing has transitioned between paragraphs and topics. This has helped my work flow more and added a keen sense of intelligence. I have seen much improvement in my essays but have seen the most significant change from my first entrance essay “My season”, to my major events essay “Wayward Feelings”, to my final argumentative essay “A Helpful Hand”.…

Instead of rushing headlong into a paper and writing it all in one sitting, working through the writing process actually forced me to stop and thoroughly read every source to find what information I agreed/disagreed with. Pre-writing helped to pinpoint what my beliefs/ideas were in both the personal culture paper as well as the quote-directed paper. Peer review and tutoring really helped to improve the conciseness of my papers, drawing all my thoughts and ideas into clear, cohesive paragraphs that flowed smoothly from one to the next. My peers and my tutor also picked out errors that I tended to overlook; they were unbiased and were able to point out errors such as awkward wording and incorrect punctuation. I know now that a paper cannot be written all in one sitting.…

This semester has gone by in the blink of an eye. The beginning of the school year fells like yesterday and now I am getting ready for finals. A peer mentor is defined as a person who uses their resources to support, encourage and inform someone. Going into this semester, I was unaware that I would be mentoring another student and thus doubted my abilities. Although I was excited to become a mentor, I questioned whether I would truly be able to make a difference in someone’s life. The difference that I wanted to make could be as simple as helping someone ace a test, but the news of mentoring threw me off track. Nonetheless, I gathered myself and tried to maintain a positive attitude.…

The evidence I have for the collegiate/peer feedback is the comment I received from the mentor teacher on my self-evaluation form, the self-evaluation form for the self-assessment/reflection, and 3 students surveys from each of the three classes that I taught for the student feedback (see Appendix 1). Area of strength An area of strength for my teaching practice would be the different teaching methods and multiple forms of literacy that I’ve included in the lessons, as I have been trying to do a different activity for each lessons, or includes visual, music, and videos in the lessons to give students different approaches to the contents. My mentor teacher commented the different tasks as “interesting and useful” for the students. The students…

    Essay About English Class

This English class has been very helpful in my efforts to improve my writing abilities, but has also been very challenging due to there being a different median for every essay. It’s been a heavy work load especially this semester since I decided to enroll in five classes, but in the end it has been very beneficial indeed. I can’t say that writing essays has been one of my strong points but I believe that this course has helped me improve tremendously and it has also made me feel a lot more comfortable with my writing. While in high school I would usually write all of my essays a day before the due date a habit of mine that was very difficult to overcome, but now I have learned from my mistakes.…
